Our Office and the Recycling and Solid Waste Center will be closed Monday May 31st for Memorial Day. Curbside recycling will not be collected on May 31st and will be on a one day delay for the remainder of the holiday week.
Due to all the snow, curbside recycling collection is cancelled today. Collection will be one day late for the rest of the week. Please clear snow off and place your bins in an accessible location.
The snow storm could impact curbside recycling collection tomorrow. Any updates or delays will be posted at recycletompkins.org. Keeping your bins accessible and clear of snow as much as possible helps prevent further delays. More info: https://recycletompkins.org/winter-storm-could-impact-curb/
This season try swapping your gift-wrapping habits! Purchase wrapping paper made with recycled content if possible. To add a unique and personal touch, use newspaper or brown craft paper and draw your own designs! Be sure to keep ribbons and bows out of your recycling bin as they get tangled around the machinery at recycling facilities. Reusable gift bags are also a great alternative to single-use. Paper bags WITHOUT glittery, metallic, or foil elements can also be recycled after their useful life. #RecyleRightNY
We announced three new fee changes for the Recycling and Solid Waste Center that will take effect at the start of 2021. See below for more details.
Online shopping is likely to increase as we all begin to plan for this season’s festivities while maintaining social distance. You can recycle right by folding cardboard boxes before placing out for recycling. Do not include foam, film packaging, or bubble wrap envelopes in your recycling bin. You can take film plastic to drop-off containers at retail stores for recycling. To find a film plastic drop-off location visit https://www.plasticfilmrecycling.org/ #RecycleRightNY
