Our walk-in freezer is in need of some upgrades so we are seeking volunteer support to help us reduce these necessary cost. Know tweens and teens looking for volunteer experience, whether for National Jr. Honor Society, National Honor Society, their college resume, or simply a sense of community and civic engagement? Red Hook Responds has lots of opportunities for young people to give back! A great place to start is afternoon Meal Assembly - kids can sign up with friends for more fun! (Those 13 and under should sign up with a parent/caregiver so they're sure to have adult support.) Visit redhookresponds.org #redhookresponds #volunteer

A Letter from Red Hook Responds Founding Board Member, Dan Budd: Dear Red Hook Community, Helping our neighbors is ongoing work and it is making a big difference! Did you know we’re at around 35,000 meals served? Food insecurity is a real thing for people who live near you. Many have been grateful for the nutrition and kindness we are serving up together to make their lives easier. Our volunteers sort and slice bread every week to stock our Local Food Exchange and the Jane...s Brooks Memorial Food Pantry. And Dutchess County has now trusted us to support equal access of covid protection resources like protective masks and test kits. It is hard to believe that in just a few more weeks we will be at the two-year anniversary of RHR! While reflection on what we have done together can make us feel good and it should looking ahead will always be most important. We are learning as an organization that the hardest time to keep volunteerism strong is when life actually seems to get better for most of us. Our area is now seeing lower covid rates and we are feeling the dramatic drop of the omicron wave. People are getting out and busy and as the daylight hours increase, and Spring comes around we hope it will be even nicer. As great as that is, there are always people who are less fortunate. We need a critical number of volunteers to uphold our help services. The reality is that we would have to cancel services if we don’t have enough help. In terms of our help with food especially, we really do not want to stop. We have plenty of food to share. We hope you can take a few moments to consider signing up to be a RHR Volunteer, or, if you’re already a volunteer, to look at our help schedule. Visit: RedHookResponds.org Even if you can take only one shift in the weeks ahead it helps us tremendously. Filling the RHR schedule together puts the energy into our system and gives us confidence that we can indeed do this. Yours in Community Always, Dan Budd

#HappyValentinesDay! In honor of the holiday, all our meal recipients received a sweet note and small box of chocolates. Love is in the air!
Dutchess County is providing free KN-95 masks to help combat the spread of Covid-19. RHR is helping them get to Red Hook. KN-95 masks are more effective than cloth masks at preventing Covid-19 spread. Free masks are intended for our most vulnerable and underserved community members. Visit https://forms.gle/fddJMkvoHn17spVQA or call 845-640-4788 to request a mask with courtesy delivery.... To protect yourself and others from COVID-19, CDC continues to recommend that you wear the most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently. (https://www.cdc.gov//prevent-get/about-face-coverings.html) Remember: Wearing a mask is an act of love. #maskup #redhookresponds #communitycare #volunteering

We recently received a $100 donation, which came with a lot of heart. Rylan (6 years old) and Isla (4 years old) had a lemonade stand sale at a family yard sale. They saved half their earnings to buy a water slide and donated the rest to Red Hook Responds! Wow, these little kids are setting a stellar example of generosity and kindness. Thank you Rylan and Isla! You are simply amazing and inspiring and we hope you have tons of giggles on your slide you deserve it! (See the... card we received with their check.) Speaking of donations, contributions to Red Hook Responds have certainly slowed down now that the pandemic is lifting. However we have a LOT of plans to continue being here for our community. We are being as frugal as possible, but expenses like rent, food, equipment purchases, possibly some straw for our veggie tables, new locks for the walk-in, etc....are all part of our ongoing solution to serve those in need. Be like Rylan & Isla! Please consider visiting and/or sharing our GO FUND ME to help us stay ahead of planning within our not-for-profit mission: gofundme.com/f/6tkme-red-hook-responds Thank you! #redhookresponds #donations #communityunity
See the progress on Red Hook Respond’s Veggie Tables, a community garden project with Four Corners Community Farm and Bard Farm to get home-grown vegetables to families who may not have the means or the physical ability to get down on the ground themselves. All tables have been reserved for this first growing season, but our request form is still open as a waiting list in case we get some extras: redhookresponds.org/veggie-table-application #redhookresponds... #veggietables #communitygarden #fourcornerscommunityfarm See more

Red Hook Responds on Christmas Day for our community. https://imby.com//a-meal-a-mask-and-more-red-hook-respond/
We need your help to help all of us. We are making meals and feeding the hungry daily, running pharmacy and grocery errands. We call and chat with the isolated and lonely. Our local food exchange serves our villages and town, plus Pine Plains, Stanfordville and Rhinebeck. We also have virtual tutoring, tech support and even more ideas for Spring. Our systems are 100% run by volunteers and we feel a surge of need coming for January. We would like to build redundancy into our volunteer schedule with on call sign ups to back up current jobs. This will protect our system from failure due to contact tracing and mandatory quarantines. We want everyone to be safe and nobody to suffer. Go to redhookresponds.org to join our force of good. Doing deeds daily to help our neighbors in hard times. Thank you!
