Thanks to Tom Fitzsimmons for sharing his memories of us in his blog! https://livinglifedoingitmyway.blog//papas-world-reds-tr/
Beginning tomorrow (11/3), we will be open from 11:00AM until 9:00PM Tuesday through Sunday. We are still closed Mondays. We want to thank our loyal customers for their continued patronage during these difficult times.
We will be open for inside dining along with our current take out. Reminder that a mask must be worn upon entering and until you are seated. Due to the 50 percent occupancy there are fewer seats available. Be patient as we must adjust to a big change in our normal operation. Thank you all for your continued patronage during a very difficult period.
Our phone is now working! Please share...
Due to the storm last night, our telephone service is down. At this time, the only way we can fill takeout orders is for you to come to the restaurant. We are sorry for any inconvenience.... Sharing this post would be much appreciated!
Thanks to Thom Torrey (from the Friends of Portville page) Regarding the oldest continuously operating business in Portville, that distinction may go to Red's & Trudy's. The business was first called Middaugh's when it started in the mid-1920's but was sold in 1950 to Gertrude Foote "Red" and Trudy Powell hence the name change to Red's and Trudy's. Red & Trudy were from Shinglehouse and acquaintances of my parents who also once lived in Shinglehouse. Consequently, my mom, who seldom worked outside the home when we kids were all at home, was recruited by Red & Trudy to work in the restaurant kitchen. My mom didn't drive, so Red and/or Trudy would pick her up at home and take her to work then bring her back home. Here's one of my mom's W2 forms from 1952. Hoppy Caya bought the business from Red & Trudy in 1958 or 1959.
Just a reminder....We are open this morning at 11:00AM!
We will be closed from July 4th-July 13th for annual maintenance and repairs. We will be reopening on July 14th. at 11:00AM.
