Kitchen tune up project. Customers have a 30+ year old custom kitchen with doors that were splitting apart. They love the look but knew it was time to replace, so I did my best to give them a product that would stand the test of time and look great for years to come. First obstacle was successfully routing the v-groove, all sets of doors are grain matched, mess up one grove and lose the whole set. Second was matching the color and patina, stains and finishes are much different, add to that 30+years of aging. This is by far the best router tabletop I have ever made. Glad no one else was in the shop when I finally finish this process, because yes, I woo hoo’d out loud! Hundreds of passes on a kitchens worth of doors and drawer fronts, and now mistakes. One mistake on a set of grain matched doors and they’re all shot! No stress here, just another day at the office! now I just need to make it through the sanding/staining/finishing/installation without mucking anything up! Finished up the wall unit from a few weeks ago. I added a panel on the left and the right, set back a few inches. And a six inch flat crown across the top. The customers loved the unit but felt it needed to look built in instead of free standing. Glad I could help make their idea a reality.

Almost done, customer wants to add fillers and some extra trim. But they are very happy with the piece. Even when you draw it out, it’s still hard for customers visualize what the final product will look like in the space. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford and learn to use visualization software. I’m still old school. I love how the butternut top came out. The tresco lighting was very user friendly. #cabinetmaker #relyeacustomcabinetry #entertainmentcenter #cabinetmaking #woodworker

Latest project, finished with the finishing on to fabricating the butternut top. Gotta get it all ready for a Monday install wish me luck!
