I joined my colleagues on the Town Board in recognizing and honoring Captain Chris Moskos and Lieutenant Andrew Niemczyk of the Hicksville Fire Department for t...heir heroic and exemplary actions when responding to a working house fire, which ultimately saved the life of a 90 year old woman. On the morning of Monday, September 28, 2020, members of the Hicksville Fire Department responded to a working house fire on Sutherland Road at 5:30 am with reports of a victim being trapped inside. In the process of searching the house, the two first responders found a 90 year old woman lying on the floor unconscious, and collectively carried the unconscious victim outside to safety, and ultimately transported her to the hospital via ambulance. Those on hand noted that the victim was removed just in the nick of time. See more

Honoring Hicksville Fire Department Heroes.

Today I joined Senator Anna M. Kaplan to honor Captain Christopher Moskos II and Lt. Andrew Niemczyk from the Hicksville Fire Department for their heroism in sa...ving a 90-year-old woman from her burning home in September. We presented New York State Commendation Awards to these Hicksville hometown heroes. The heroic work of Lt. Niemczyk and Captain Moskos II is representative of the courageous actions that our volunteer firefighters take every day of the year. I thank them for their exceptional work and all of the brave firefighters who serve without praise or accolades 365 days a year.
