Train that frontal plane! Most of what we do in our day to day lives is in the sagittal plane making it very important to include exercises in the frontal plane when we workout Side/lateral lunges are a great frontal plane exercise that will keep your hips strong and stable which can prevent knee and back issues This is a fun variation using bands for accommodating resistance in the portion of the exercise where we are typically weakest. Saw it in one of Cressey Sports P...erformance - MA blogs and I dig it The progression would be using thicker bands before adding weight to it. Master it with your bodyweight for accessory work! #strengthcoach #coachHD #womenthatlift #strongwomen #training #athlete #sportsperformance #fitness #fitspo #motivation #consistency #bowlfit #pwba #workhard See more

Mobility Monday!! Here is one of my all time favorite stretches... the bretzel! It’s best to do AFTER a workout as it is a static stretch and requires muscles to be warmed up and loose. Cold stretching is never a good idea.... This hits so many different areas: quads, thoracic spine, hip flexors, and shoulders Warning get into the stretch gently and focus on deep breathing through the diaphragm.

T-SPINE MOBILITY Okay, confession here... I have always been too scared to go to a chiropractor for adjustments. Never liked the idea of having things cracked or popped But I recently networked with a chiropractor who offered a session for me to give it a try. Usually my problematic areas are my neck and upper back. When I have to spend a lot of time traveling in a car or on a plane I end up feeling so stiff and achey. Normally I just do some stretching and movemen...t to feel better. Usually it helps a great deal! # However this week I gave Dr.Nick Prosser a chance to do an adjustment. There were some vertebrae stuck in my thoracic spine which I could definitely feel. He adjusted it but there was still a part higher up that wouldn’t budge. It was definitely NOT as scary as I thought it would be. He was thorough with his assessments and made sure I get comfortable and relaxed. Nothing hurt at all and I felt great from the adjustments that he was able to make! # When I went to workout I threw in some of my favorite thoracic mobility drills. If you spend a majority of your day sitting at a desk or driving, these are going to help you more than you know. # The first drill with a barbell is more advanced. I wouldn’t recommend it right off that bat and you should be warned up already before throwing that one in. Make sure your not just using momentum from each turn to go into the next one. Take deep breathes and make slow controlled turns. # The other 2 are great to start off with during your warm up routine or in between sets of lifts! Still maintain control and incorporate deep breathing to really allow yourself to open up. # This is the part of the spine that needs mobility! The lumbar spine needs more stability. Try some of these and let me know how they go!And if you live in the Rochester area I highly recommend @ncprosser at Proactive Chiropractic in Fairport!!! #strengthtraining #therapy #lmt #massagetherapy #recovery #movement #chiropractor #adjustments #vertebrae #thoracicmobility #tspine #fitnesstips #movebetter #feelbetter #personaltrainer #roc See more
