Meet the cast of the Nutcracker! Richard has been studying ballet and dance, tap, and jazz for 8 years. This year marks Richard's 3rd year studying ballet with Mr. Grigorian and the Rafael Grigorian School of Ballet. This is Richard's 6th Nutcracker in all and his second with the Rafael Grigorian Ballet Theater. Richard has also studied with Kathleen Rathbun for 8 years. Richard has attended the American Ballet Theatre NYC Youth Summer Workshop on full scholarship for 2 yea...rs, he was granted a scholarship to the Bolshoi Ballet Youth Summer Workshop NYC and CT 2021, as well as scholarships to the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensives in NYC. At the age of 11 Richard attended the Youth American Grand Prix in 2020 taking 2nd place for his contemporary ballet piece, top 12 for his ballet piece, and he was invited to the finals based on his performance Linda Mujer. In March of 2021 Richard competed again as a 12-year-old in the Youth American Grand Prix as a first time Junior competitor, he was awarded top 12 for his contemporary ballet piece titled "Chaak". Richard has performed in numerous full-length ballets such as Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan. Richard will be performing the role of Fritz and Russian in the Rafael Grigorian Ballet Theatre production of the Nutcracker. When Richard is not dancing, he enjoys swimming boating, building/carpentry, 4 wheeling, and other outdoor activities as well as his service to his church. Meet Alysia Sunshine! Self-proclaimed "professional recreational dancer" she came to the Rafael School and joined the Performing Company in 2017 and also participates as a member of the board. Outside of dancing, she works for Cornell University in Service Management. She says "I wouldn't want to imagine a world without the arts. Introducing Mary Juliano Mary came to study with Master Rafael Grigorian last year, after a family move from Orlando to Elmira. She was so grateful to find such excellent training here. Mary began dancing at age 3 with Orlando Ballet, where she was accepted into their prestigious Ballet Conservatory/trainee program. She studied with OB for 10 years, performing in numerous programs including several roles in their annual Nutcracker. At age 13 Mary was accepted into the Ballet... Conservatory at Skyra, where she studied many other genres of dance including jazz, contemporary, Afro-Latin, ballroom, progressions, and musical theater. She also competed successfully in several dance competitions, earning 8th place at UBC, and 1st place at Shake the Ground. Mary began dancing with Orlando Metropolitan Ballet Academy briefly before the move to Orlando. Mary is thrilled to be performing again in the Nutcracker, and wishes her fellow performers, Merde. Introducing this years cast for the Nutcracker, next we have Hattie! Hattie is excited to be performing once again in this year’s Nutcracker! Hattie has been training under the direction of Master Rafael Grigorian since 2015 along with Mr. Brian Maciak, Owner and Director of The Fuse Dance Center in Binghamton where she dances competitively in Contemporary and Lyrical. Hattie began dancing at the age of 3 and has spent her summers at The School of American Ballet, CA Workshop... for 2 consecutive years, their Inaugural Junior Session and SAB Summer Courses. This past summer Hattie trained with Miami City Ballet and was honored to be selected as one of the youngest Apprentices at The Chautauqua Institution on full-scholarship where she learned from Kennedy Center Honoree Patricia McBride along with Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux. This is Olivia Haluska!! This year, Olivia is performing as Masha for the 2021 Nutcracker production. Born and raised for 15 years in Elmira, New York. Olivia has been dancing at Rafael Grigorian Ballet School since she was just 3 years old. She and her twin sister, Grey Haluska, have been dancing in the magical production of The Nutcracker for 10 wonderful years. When Mr. Grigorian told Olivia that he was giving her the chance to be Masha she was absolutely determined to w...ork the hardest that she has ever worked before. This opportunity has given Olivia great happiness that she will remember for the rest of her life. She wouldn't be where she is today without the support of the wonderful man that she has the honor of calling her teacher. Olivia hopes to continue ballet into her adult life as she works her way through medical school because ballet is a joy that she couldn't ever possibly let go. Tickets now available for sale!
