Creating Harmony Between American Tap Dance And Brazilian Rhythms On May 3, the National Museum of Dance in collaboration with So Danca and Divine Rhythm Productions will present B.r.U.s in The Riggi Theater. This special performance by award-winning tap dancer/choreographer Christiane Matallo and Musician Jim Hamilton kicks off the first leg of its US tour right here in Saratoga Springs. B.r.U.s celebrates blending the percussion traditions of Brazil and the United States th...rough the lens and language of tap. Rhythm always tells a story and the playful interactions of these performers drive this unique collaboration enjoyed by all ages. The syncopation of Jazz styles and Brazilian styles are very similar in that it must "Swing". This is an essential quality that both our traditions share. Some of the featured music includes Samba, Partido Alto, Forro, and Samba Funk among others. The 45-minute performance will be followed by an exclusive talk back with each of the performers and a meet and greet as well. Contact the National Museum of Dance for more information and to purchase tickets at 518.584.2225 or www.dancemuseum.org
