Imagine a world in which restaurants could produce meals so cheaply that people didn’t bother to cook at home anymore. That people no longer owned refrigerators. Or ovens or stoves or even pots and pans. Where people no longer even knew how to cook. That’s a bit like the state of American manufacturing. We get everything from overseas. And then imagine something occurred to force all the restaurants to close. How would we eat? We used to make stuff here. Local hospitals are running out of face masks and hospital gowns, critical protective materials that serve as the only barrier between sick/ill patients and the still healthy doctors and nurses. Due to the nationwide demand there is now a shortage and hospital officials are getting desperate because SOMETHING is better than nothing! R, Jeffery Diduch, the SVP of Technical Design at Rochester’s clothing factory, Hickey Freeman, is spear-heading and coordinating a work-from-hom...e network to source, sew, and deliver homemade face masks and hospital gowns in the greater Rochester, New York area because the factory cannot be opened due to the unsafe concentration of people. We’re in the process of sourcing raw materials, drafting contracts, and putting together our game plan.
