On Thursday, April 27, 2017, the New Rochelle Confederation of Neighborhood Associations and the New Rochelle Citizens Reform Club hosted presentations on the proposed 2017-2018 budgets for the City School District of New Rochelle (CSDNR) and the New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) and presentations from candidates for the CSDNR Board of Education and the NRPL Board of Trustees. CSDNR Assistant Superintendent for Business Affairs, Jeffrey White, and CSDNR Board of Education P...resident, Rachel Relkin, presented the proposed school budget for 2017-2018. For those of you who missed the presentation, you can view highlights of the proposed budget on the CSDNR website: http://www.nred.org/ and scroll down to LEARN MORE and see the whole budget. If you have any questions, Mr. White and Ms. Relkin asked that you email them at [email protected] and [email protected], respectively. NRPL Director, Tom Geoffino, and NRPL Board of Trustees President, Chuck Burke, presented the proposed library budget for 2017-2018. Unfortunately, I do not have a link for the NRPL budget, but, for those of you who missed the presentation, please contact Tom Geoffino or Chuck Burke at [email protected] and [email protected], respectively, for more information. Three candidates for two seats on the School Board came to the meeting and made presentations. They were Vincent Malfetano, Any Moselhi, and Moraydda Rosado. One additional candidate, Paul Warhit, did not attend the meting.None of the candidates are incumbents. One seat on the Library Board is open and the incumbent, Yadira Ramos-Herbert, is running to replace herself. No other candidates are running. For anyone who has not heard presentations from the candidates, or for anyone who would like to hear more, the New Rochelle League of Women Voter's is hosting a Candidates Forum for School Board and Library Candidates on May 8, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Library's Ossie Davis Auditorium, 1 Library Plaza.
