The Academy's covered porch offers a beautiful outside event space - either stand alone, or as an addition to other venue spaces.

During and after a disaster, it is natural to experience different and strong emotions. Coping with these feelings and getting help when you need it will help you, your family, and your community recover from a disaster. Get regular exercise, eat a healthy diet, connect with family, friends, and others in your community. Take care of yourself and each other, and know when and how to seek help.

Hi all. Wanted to share the following note and call to action from our partners at Common Ground Health on the "Happy & Healthy" campaign through Healthi Kids. The Academy is joining in and perhaps you have a program or location that can help as well. Contact person is Mike Bulger at [email protected].... Thanks! _______________________________________________________________ Hello Coalition Members, Healthi Kids is promoting a new Happy & Healthy message in support of food access and nutrition, and we need your help. This is a simple campaign to encourage families to purchase fruits and vegetables, and to suggest places they can access these important foods. To promote our message, we have printed thousands of campaign postcards (see attached). Healthi Kids is asking for your help to distribute as many postcards as possible over the next few weeks. The city’s Department of Recreation and Human Services, Rochester Public Library, El Camino, and Foodlink, have all helped us get over 5000 postcards into the community already. Do you have a program or location that can also help distribute postcards? The postcards are great complements to any meals or other health-oriented programs. If you are interested in helping distribute, please contact Healthi Kids by emailing Mike Bulger at [email protected]. If you don’t have the ability to help distribute the postcards, you can also share the Healthy & Happy message on social media. Healthi Kids also shared the attached video on it’s Facebook page. The 2020-2021 flu vaccinations are coming soon. While these vaccines will not protect against COVID-19, they will lessen the chance of contracting the seasonal flu, another respiratory virus. The more people who are protected against the flu, the less of a strain will be put on our hospitals and health care workers who treat COVID-19 patients. Stay safe, stay healthy, and get your vaccinations this flu season!

Indoors or out - remember to socially distance!

Rochester Academy of Medicine 25.07.2020

Your physical and mental health go hand-in-hand, so make sure that you’re getting a bit of activity in. It CAN be done socially distant!

Rochester Academy of Medicine 09.07.2020

Handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

Rochester Academy of Medicine 07.07.2020

Social distancing does not have to mean social isolation! Connecting with our friends and loved ones, whether by high tech means or through simple phone calls, can help us maintain ties during stressful days and will give us strength to weather these difficult times.
