Tuesday is almost over, but we didn’t want to let the day come to an official end without sharing this patient’s amazing progress! Seven months of braces, and we still have a ways to go, but we already have significant improvement in tooth alignment and leveling

Sometimes small details make a huge difference. The edges of this patient’s teeth had been worn unevenly due to the way they were biting, so even after the teeth were aligned, they still looked uneven. We did some minor recontouring of a few teeth (called enameloplasty) to further improve their smile. Warning: Enameloplasty is an irreversible procedure that should only be done by a licensed dentist. Do not try to do this on your own!

That’s right! Starting March 17, we will be open to see patients on Wednesdays! We are so excited to provide greater availability for our patients.

The first braces (that we know of) were found on mummies!

For all of our biology enthusiasts out there...

Believe it or not, about half of our patients are adults! Some need re-treatment because their teeth shifted after not wearing retainers for a while. Some were not able to have braces when they were younger and are seeking the treatment now. With improved technology, we are able to offer adults esthetic options like clear aligners (Invisalign) to achieve straighter teeth and a healthier bite.

After completing dental school, Dr. Wood did her specialty training in orthodontics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health right here in Rochester.

This is what we do all day, everyday--straightening teeth and fixing bites! We look at our patient's whole face (not just the teeth) to make sure our treatment plan results in the best possible smile and bite for YOU.
