What does a 12 year old do with $15,000????? Today’s group has been fishing the LOC Derby with us for a few years now. Last year Finn (pictured), didn’t get to land a fish. So he was up first today. We’ve been fishing the Derby all week with clients and friends, but haven’t landed a fish bigger than 21lbs. With all the pressure the fish out of Wilson have been under, the bite has definitely slowed down. ... Our morning program started with a mix of Big paddles, flys and meat rigs. Outside of a couple short strikes, it was clear our program wasn’t working. So we decided to change the whole spread and simplify things. Quickly brought in rods and ran to the weight station, where Kip’s thoughts were confirm, 26lbs 10oz, was over a pound greater than then the previous Grand prize fish. July 4th AM & PM Trip: Both trips were LIGHTS OUTS! There are TONS of Salmon, as well as all species in the area and they are chewing hard. Both trips had well over 20 bites, All species landed, with the majority being King Salmon. Warrior Lures Lances 2 Face and Blue Dolphin continue to be our best producing spoons. 7/1 & 7/2 Almost identical days in most aspects, same lures same bite counts. The temps are still deep and showing 60+ degree in the top 90 feet, EXCEPT we started to take kings on our high steelhead lines in up to 65 degrees! June 30th: Continued to stay on fish today, the Kings are Hugging the bottom with Lakers in the 100-150ft range. Name of the game has been keeping our spread SIMPLE, we’ve only been running 6-7 rod spread in the small area of good temperature.
