Hi everyone! So our July meeting did not happen and August would usually be our picnic. However this will not happen either. I am looking at holding our Sept meeting with some guidelines in place that we must follow; All visitors and staff will need to enter at Door #5. There is a Help Desk there where you will complete a brief questionnaire and get a temperature check. Masks will be available as well. All visitors must wear a mask in the building. Only one person can be in t...he elevator at a time, and social distancing must be maintained in the hallways and in meeting rooms. Hand sanitizer will be available at various points throughout the building. Water fountains are turned off but water bottle filling stations will be available. These are weird times we live in currently, and I hope everyone is doing well during this pandemic. These uncertain times generate anxiety for many, and I am going to share with you some suggestions for helping to combat anxiety. 1) Mindfullness: as you know we had a session on this topic and we tried out using it to clear our minds. Mindfullness can be a useful tool, and can be paralleled to meditation. 2) Therapy: talking to a therapist about your fears can help decrease the level of anxiety you experience. A therapist can help you learn skills to focus on other things or lower your level of anxiety. 3) Connection: something as simple as a phone conversation can help lower anxiety. In this day & age we can use other options such as a Zoom call or a Skype call where not only can you talk to the other person you can see them as well. 4) Exercise: fitness and cardio can help reduce anxiety and depression and help you feel better. Doctors often recommend exercise for folks and exercise helps you develop & maintain your cognitive and physical abilities. 5) Medication: your primary may recommend an anti-depressant or refer you to a neurologist or psychiatrist for an assessment of what medication might be appropriate for you based on your health and neurological conditions. Many are short term. Some can be addictive and therefore having a medical person oversee the prescription is essential. These are just a few suggestions. I hope to see you all soon in person! I look forward to it! Cheryl

Hi everyone! Well July didn't work out and August is usually our picnic- which won't be happening this year. It does look like Sept will be a go with some precautions. Our room is big enough to social distance. Guidelines: all visitors must enter at Door #5. There is a Help Desk there where disposable masks will be available. Masks must be worn by anyone entering the building. There will be a temperature check and a brief questionnaire you will answer before being allowed into the building. Only one person can use the elevator at a time. Maintain 6 feet between others.

Hi everyone! I am hoping to have our July meeting. Requirements will be masks for all and social distancing. But our room is large enough to do this. We have a guest speaker- either in person or via Zoom. This will be decided as we get closer. Stay tuned and stay safe!
