#FloraAndFaunaFriday Have you seen bees swarm? It is one of natures best displays of coordinated behavior. These honey bees swarmed due to over crowding in the hive. The queen signals it is time to swarm, telling worker bees to create swarm cells to make new queens. Once the queen is ready to go about half of the worker bees follow her and leave the orginal hive. A new queen will emerge shortly after to take over the orginal hive.

Congratulations to Virginia Huerfeld of Glenmont, NY, the winner of the 2020 Electric Car Raffle for Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center. Here is Virginia and her son Christian Grieco, picking up the prize, the 2015 Tesla Model S at Rogers Center. Thank you to all who entered and all the venues that allowed us to show the car and sell tickets. It was a crazy year to raffle a car with events canceled and health concerns, but it was a pleasure to show this Tesla. Enjoy your electric car Virginia! #zeroemission #Tesla #friendsofrogers #TeslamodelS

#FloraandFaunaFriday Perhaps you have seen chipmunks running around storing food for the winter? They store fruits and seeds in burrows, which can be over 10 feet in length!
