Ladies and Gentlemen without a hint of exaggeration I am telling you that if you don’t start ordering from Panaro's Restaurant immediately it will not be here i...n a month. As a result of the quarantine, Panaro’s was forced to close their doors for a long time...only reopening recently. Tucked right between Colter Bay and Tempo, Panaro’s relied on foot traffic from downtown workers, only opening for lunch hours. With successful catering, and the Rolling Cannoli food truck, the owners, Michael and Tony Concialdi were able to keep a nice business going for many years with a low profile. Post-COVID things changed dramatically, and death is all but imminent. (On a positive note they are now serving dinners...take out only). To make matters worse Tony Concialdi cooks like (not looks like) an old Italian grandmother ...and that’s a really good thing. You’ve heard me lambast WNY Italian food for being a sloppy derivative of the meals grandma prepared. Tony is the outlier in an industry packed full of bums. His eggplant parm pizza takes me back to the flavors of my childhood. His brasciole is the very best in town. Sadako and I stuffed ourselves silly last night on his stuffed peppers. We didn’t even mention his sponge candy cannoli that has made him locally famous. Imagine knowing that grandma is cooking you her last meal. This is Big Night in real life...but we, the residents of WNY have the means to save Panaro’s. I was once a DJ for a college radio station, and I was strictly forbidden by the FCC from calling the listeners to action. I now have no such limits...
