New York State has the dubious honor of being the state with the highest income and wealth inequality in the country. We’re home to the executives artificially... inflating their salaries and stock portfolios through buybacks, as well as the workers and families the companies have chosen to ignore. Yesterday, Roosevelters from NYU, Syracuse, Geneseo, Columbia, CCNY, John Jay, Cornell, and our very own chapter travelled to Albany to lobby our representatives for their support on Early Voting and Discovery for Justice during budget negotiations. We shared what we value and made our voices heard, now it is up to our elected officials to listen and take action! #RooImpact #LetNYVote #DiscoveryforJustice

As many of you know, this semester we are so excited to have the opportunity to lobby in Albany for open evidence discovery laws in New York State. Right now, ...prosecutors are not required to reveal evidence against a defendant until the day of the trial! This forces defendants to take a plea deal at arraignment or walk into a trial without adequate preparation...
