I had read that tanging (hitting two metal objects together) may help calm or settle bees that are in the midst of swarming. I tried it - not sure if the bees just changed their minds or if the tanging worked, but about 1 hour later the sky was clear of bees and they were all on the hive and clustered under the bottom box. I put a smaller nuc next to the cluster with some brood frames etc from the main hive and we’ll see what happens. I assume the new queen is in the cluster under the main hive

So this happened today . Newest hive (a split that was made about 3.5 weeks ago) thought about swarming. All the little dots flying in the air are bees - LOTS of bees ! If you turn up your volume you can hear the constant sound of a busy Highway or running water that’s the BEES. Lucky to have witnessed it!

As much as it pains me to do this .... I am told in order to have a healthy tree and big juicey peaches it's necessary . Thinning peaches to every 6-8 inches!

TRIED AND TRUE - Brad's Atomic Grape I have grown this tomato since 2015 and is has become a staple in my garden ever since. I have been successfully harvesting and saving these seeds for the last 3 years from only the biggest, most colorful and best tasting fruits. I will be selling this variety as single plants this spring. HIGHLIGHTS:... Colorful (technetronic color swirls), very sweet (rivals any cherry tomato), CHALLENGES: Plants grow very tall and will need additional staking/support beyond a normal height, seems to take forever to ripen (but well worth the wait) - however they can still be grown in our short season See more

Knock-knock! Checked the hives the other day! I know it’s early and the most difficult time for the bees is still ahead - but it’s exciting to hear the buzzzzz in January!
