What is JUNETEENTH? Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, a Union Genera...l rode into Galveston, Texas to announce that the Civil War had ended, and slaves had been freed. To honor this holiday on Saturday June there will be a parade and festival to celebrate. The 29th Annual Juneteenth Parade and Harambee Festival which will be held on Saturday, June 19th in Seaside Park. The Parade will kick-off at 11:00am and the Festival will be from 1:00-5:00pm. We will have live entertainment featuring Sage (all female jazz ensemble), African inspired fashion show, New Creation Drill Team, Merchandise Vendors, Ethnic Food Trucks, Farmers Market, Health Screenings and more!
