It’s been a busy, sad week for first responders on the Delaware River. The weather is HOT and we know you want to get out and enjoy all of our beautiful rivers and swimming holes, but please, PLEASE wear a life vest!

It’s been a year of growth for our members and for the second time in a month we get to celebrate one of their major accomplishments. We’d like to congratulate second assistant chief, Dylan Baker on becoming a professional firefighter. While his wisdom, sarcasm, and killer mustache will be missed around Station 29, and the Sullivan County 911 center, we know that his professionalism and knowledge will be put to good use. Stay safe, brother! We’re all proud of you!

It is with deep regret and a heavy heart to announce the passing of lifetime member and past chief Mike Bury. Mike will be missed by all that were grateful enough to know him and work with him on his many years of fire calls. Our most sincere and deepest condolences to the Bury family. We will post funeral and visitation arrangements as they become available. Rest easy brother. We will take it from here.

A note from the commissioners regarding tonight’s elections: Masks are required. Also, please permit for 6 foot social distancing while in line. If there is not enough room, please wait in your vehicle until there is a reasonable amount of space. You will enter in the front door of the Community Center building, go to the election teller table which aligns with the first letter of your last name, receive your ballot, go to the ballot box table and place you vote, and then exit at the side door of the Community Center building. Hand sanitizer will be available. Don’t forget to come out and vote!

Good luck to all the hunters out there on opening day. This is our usual reminder to ensure you wear your fall prevention devices, if you’re in a tree stand. Be safe and good luck.
