Special thanks to our ownership group. While we celebrate our 1 year anniversary today, it was their foresight and determination over 3 years ago, despite many challenges, that allows us share in this milestone. Pictured below are Jeff Zee and Darren Gabel. Not pictured are Neil Zee and Jeff Thomas. But they were there in spirit.
1 Year ago today, we opened our doors for the first time. We have come so far, accomplished so much, and helped so many. Approximately 1,300 admissions later we celebrate, and strive to continue getting better, while serving the needs of the substance use disorder population. Thank you to our ownership group, staff, community partners, and most especially our clients. Happy Anniversary to RRCOOC!
Thanksgiving at Resource Recovery Center of Orange County was an amazing, uplifting experience. One that was full of hope and gratitude. While our clients are cared for everyday here, it is heartwarming to deliver wonderful food and fellowship, when so many miss being home.
Exciting Update: Resource Recovery Center of Orange County is now able to offer Methadone as an option in our Detoxification program. Please call our Admissions Department for more information.
Making the choice to get help is the first step to move away from chaos and the abyss, and towards a life worth living. A life of peace, serenity and potentially a life beyond your wildest dreams.
I wanted to reach out and personally thank everyone at Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster, NY for a great charity golf outing on Tuesday, September 8th at West Hills Country Club Golf. The Ownership group and I met lots of great people and we are already looking forward to playing again next year! Mike Michael Bentson... It must be a week for good stuff. This unsolicited letter was delivered to me today by Teresa M. How can we not share this? ***** 5 STARS RRCOOC helped me build a suit of armor to fend off the insidious disease of addiction. Each panel of this suit was constructed by the following: Every position from intake staff to nursing staff is both compassionate and empathetic. They truly understand how to humanely treat the still sick and suffering. I h...ave been struggling with relapse for the better part of 25 years and have been inpatient at numerous facilities. RRCOOC's staff is the best of the best, which in turn produced groups that are unparalleled in motivational, informative and seriously impactful counsel. ....The truth is THERE IS NO CURE but you need not spend your life savings to gain the real tools to combat to combat this disease. At RRCOOC you are accommodated like a queen or king in my estimation. I had a spiritual awakening at RRCOOC. My institutionalized relapsing journey is over (God willing). RRCOOC saved my life. I have more than a fighting chance to combat disease one day at a time. In gratitude, I will remain vigilant as a success story thanks to RRCOOC. (Some content deleted for brevity) See more
A Poem by Jaime while in RRCOOC Sept. 2020 "Reflections" I looked in the mirror, a stranger looked back, I could no longer deny, it clearly was fact. I'd lost all control, I was stressed out and down,... Dependent on alcohol, had me tied, stuck and bound. My body was wrecked, my face was so swollen, My sanity was gone, it was taken and stolen. My life was unbalanced, my life was unsteady, It was at that moment, I knew I was ready. No looking back I walked through those doors, Listened to stories, so much pain on these floors. From detox to rehab, I focused and learned, A life free of alcohol is what I now yearned. 18 inches from my head to my heart, Had to change my way of thinking, tear addictive patterns apart. I shared my trauma and shed some tears, Released the shame and talked through fears. The insidious disease; I admitted defeat, Adhered to "stick and stay" right in that seat. Genetics, trauma and anxiety, the odds against me stacked, but damn the odds, I'm getting my life back. I'll remember to fall forward if or when I fall, I know to "just stand" and keep my back against the wall. Today...I looked in the mirror with love and honesty, I recognized myself, that reflection is a better me. See more
Monday presents an opportunity to change. The door to change is within reach. Turn the handle and see the light that exists when you walk through that door..
Taking that first step to change is the biggest, hardest step one has to take. Sometimes it's even harder when we have taken that step before and fallen.
On today of all days, we take a moment to remember those who lost their lives to overdose. Whether it was someone's first time using, or just using one last time, their memories are imprinted on ours. We who battle against addiction everyday want you to know that we mourn along with you. You are not alone.

Hitting bottom can be described as both the best of times and the worst of times. No one wants to experience the pain, suffering and consequences of hitting bottom, but it may be the first time when we come to realize, what worked for me yesterday, no longer works for me today. This is where true recovery may begin.
A message to parents sending their children off to college. We send our children off with an intense array of emotions. From joy to fear to our own sense of loss. It is all normal. Take the time to talk to your young adults- not just about Covid and mask wearing, but also of the dangers of underage drinking, marijuana and other drug use.
Hitting Bottom takes one to a deep, dark place. Recovery allows us to emerge from the darkness, and see how bright life in recovery can be.
We at the Resource Recovery Center want to again thank our own Healthcare Warriors. Hopefully the days of New York being the epicenter of the pandemic are behind us. Nevertheless, day after day, our talented, caring and dedicated staff do battle with addiction for the benefit of those we serve. Alcohol and drugs have nothing on our Addiction Slayers! Thank you to our staff for the work you do everyday.
We've long know that pharmaceutical companies have been culpable in the opioid epidemic.
In this Covid-19 pandemic, it's beneficial to understand a couple of things. First-The opioid epidemic was here before Covid, and it seems that it's getting worse during the pandemic, and will absolutely be part of the aftermath even after a vaccine. Second- while physical distancing is of vital importance, so to is social connection. Theorist Alfred Adler said "We all have a fundamental need to belong." The first word of the first step of AA is "We". The progression of addiction is an inward journey towards isolation. The process of a meaningful recovery incorporates the concept of "We" and social connection.
