As you know, Governor Hochul has lifted the indoor mask mandate. This includes churches. The Diocese of Brooklyn likewise is lifting the instructions that everyone wear masks in Church or other parish facilities. Therefore, it is NOT REQUIRED that you wear a mask in Church. You are encouraged to do so if it makes you feel safer. It is your choice.

Dear Parishioners, Tomorrow, Friday, June 19th is the Solemnity of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, our parish Patronal Feast Day! Since we are still not able to celebrate Holy Mass together, I will celebrate the Feast Day Mass live on the Sacred Heart Facebook page at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Fullum will concelebrate and Deacon Peter will assist. Charlie Nicholson will also return to play music for this special day. At the end of Mass there will be a special blessing for all men ...in the Parish through the intercession of St. Joseph in honor of Father’s Day which is this Sunday, June 21st. Please join us for this Parish Feast Day Mass as we pray for all parishioners, staff, priests, deacons, Sisters of St. Dominic and students past and present. Therefore, please return your Father’s Day envelopes with your intentions before this Sunday so that all Father’s living and deceased can be remembered at the private Masses offered by myself and Fr. Fullum. With love and blessings, Fr. Fred+ See more

Dearest Parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, Greetings from Father Fullum, Deacon Peter, the Sisters of the Convent, the Parish Pastoral Council and me! On this joyful feast of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, we are reminded that in our lives there is a mysterious mixture of happiness and tranquility, sorrow and distress. So, even on this happy day, we remember those who have died, and their families... Joseph Spano and William Niklaus. Eternal rest grant unto them...Continue reading

Dear Parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, This Sunday, June 14th, is the Feast of the The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ...Corpus Christi. Since the 13th century, one of the ways to honor this Gift to us is by processing through the streets with the Blessed Sacrament and publicly showing our belief in and offering our adoration to Our Lord in the Eucharist. Since we, as a parish, cannot celebrate Holy Mass together and come to Church and receive Jesus at this time, ...He will come to YOU! Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on this Sunday, Father Fullum, Deacon Peter and I will be riding in a convertible car with the Holy Eucharist in a Monstrance. As we travel throughout the parish from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., we will go through as many blocks as possible from 74th to 88th Streets and Myrtle Ave. to 77th Ave. blessing the residents who live there. When you hear the Mass bells on your block, come outside and stand in front of your house to receive a blessing. Hopefully, it will be a beautiful day! I would like to thank Mr. Mike Bilski and the East Coast Car Association, for the donation of his classic car for the procession, and Mr. Frank Kotnik, Mr. John Baer (Grand Knight) and the Msgr. Sherman Knights of Columbus Council for helping to organize this procession. See you all on Sunday! With love and blessings, Father Fred+

Dearest Parishioners, Friday, June 19th is the Solemnity of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, our parish Feast day. It is a joyful celebration affirming our belief in the unconditional LOVE that our dear Lord offers to each one of us....We are so blessed to belong to a parish under this title, which constantly reminds us to be grateful for this gift and extend it to our sisters and brothers, those that we love and love us, AND pray for those who we do NOT love, nor love us. T...his is the primary characteristic of a Christian, "See how they (Christians) love one another!" we hear in the First Letter of Saint Peter in the New Testament. As we prayed together the Holy Spirit Novena to prepare for Pentecost, so beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, June 10), we will pray a Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Please say the following prayer for the next nine days as we remember one another and all our special intentions. Following the prayer is a beautiful meditation hymn to the Sacred Heart. With love and blessings, Father Fred+ NOVENA PRAYER TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS Lord Jesus Christ, You have called us to share in Your saving mission. Sinners though we are, we accept this invitation, and we renew today our baptismal commitment to You, our devotion to Your Sacred Heart, and our union with Your Eucharistic Sacrifice. That we may serve You more faithfully, we ask You, dear Jesus, to obtain for us the favors we seek during this Novena, only if they are in accord with Your Most Holy Will... (Pause and offer your intentions). Deepen our faith, and touch fire to our hearts, that we may respond with that same love that fills Your Sacred Heart. Amen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeIMBtjjb08

Dear Parishioners, After Jesus ascended to heaven, His apostles, together with Mary His mother, and other members of the original Christian Church continued to pray together until the great feast of Pentecost when, in accordance with Jesus’ promise, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. These nine days of prayer reported in the Acts of the Apostles were the first novena on which all later novenas have been based. As the Sacred Heart Parish community, I would like ...to invite you to pray this Novena to the Holy Spirit beginning tomorrow Friday (May 22nd) and ending Saturday (May 30th). Please offer the following prayer once each day to renew the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit in your soul. PRAYER FOR THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Oh, Spirit of WISDOM, preside over all my thoughts, words and actions in my life. Spirit of UNDERSTANDING, enlighten and teach me. Spirit of COUNSEL, direct my inexperience. Spirit of FORTITUDE, strengthen my weakness. Spirit of KNOWLEDGE, instruct my ignorance. Spirit of PIETY, make me fervent in prayer and good works. Heavenly Spirit, make me persevere, in the service of God, and enable me to act on all occasions with goodness and kindness, charity and joy, with long-suffering, mildness and fidelity. Let the heavenly virtues of modesty, humility and chastity, adorn the temple you have chosen for your abode. Spirit of HOLINESS (Fear of the Lord), by your all-powerful grace, preserve me from the misfortune of sin. Amen. May the Holy Spirit renew your hearts and minds. Fr. Fred+
