We were fortunate to be in a recent issue of the Seafarer’s Log; one of our favorite reads each month. Shortly after the article we updated our program guidelines to say some exceptions may apply to each of our eligibility guidelines.

A big thank you to The Rev. Baldridge of The Seamen's Church Institute for letting the inland maritime community know that SSH is here to help.

It must be December. We received a box of beautiful monkey fist ornaments from a retired mariner that we helped a few years ago.

A great piece from our local news station. Impressive to hear the story of 15 year-old Ray joining the war effort.

On this fifth anniversary of the SS El Faro’s loss at sea, SCI remembers the valor of its crew and holds their surviving families in prayer. At 11:00 today, SCI...’s retired Executive Director David Rider presides at a commemoration for families at the El Faro memorial in Jacksonville. This year’s observance, which is live-streamed to families because of COVID, includes the unveiling of a life ring that was recovered from the ship that sank near the Bahamas during Hurricane Joaquin. SSH's benefactor, Capt. Robert Richard Randall, crossed the bar on June 5th, 1801. Attached is a nice note we received from one of the mariners in our program commemorating today and thanking him 219 years later.

A local graphic designer volunteered his talents to make some outreach posters for us. We had a hard time choosing our favorite. If you have a place where we can display a poster, we will gladly send you one and will of course thank you for helping us promote the program.

I wish we had a picture of the Liberty Ship named after our benefactor Capt. Robert Richard Randall. Hopefully Baltimore can find a new place for this beauty. https://www.baltimoresun.com//bs-ed-rr-liberty-ship-201912

This is always a nice time of year at SSH. We receive a lot of holiday cards and phone calls from the Mariners in the program. They missed many holidays out at sea, but most say they would jump on a ship tomorrow if they could.
