Scripture reveals that God values and loves the total human family equally. Humanity is created in God’s image. Every human individual has God’s divine imprint on them. ‘From one man he made all the nations’. Scripture is unequivocal: ‘There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male or female, for you are one in Christ Jesus.' The phrase ‘one in Christ Jesus’ establishes a new identity in Christ, not in gender or class or ethnicity.

Inequalities based on race, class and ethnicity, continue to persist across the world, within and among countries. Inequality threatens long-term social and economic development, harms poverty reduction and destroys people’s sense of fulfilment and self-worth. This, in turn, can breed crime, disease and environmental degradation. The concept of race has been used to justify the most appalling policies of discrimination and murder. Science has shown, however, that there is no ...evidence to support the existence of biologically different human races. There is much more genetic variation within each so-called racial group than there is between them. We cannot achieve sustainable development if we exclude any parts of the world's population.

Racism and oppression are deeply embedded and perpetuated in human trafficking, given the high representation of victims being people of colour. We must have deep-level conversations about this matter to identify the root causes and be proactive about dismantling systems that perpetuate modern slavery and human trafficking. To truly understand and combat this crime, these conversations and practices must be racially inclusive. We must consistently discuss the intersectional...ity between trafficking, migration, poverty, racism, and gender to destroy the roots of racial oppression and human trafficking. #SAFightforFreedom #SeekingJusticeTogether #JesusandJustice #EndModernSlavery #EndHumanTrafficking
