Looking back I always told myself self care was important but it took on a whole new meaning when Sonny came along When he was in the NICU there was literally very little I could do for him and taking care of myself was 1 out of the two things I had control over I didn’t feel like I deserved it. I felt selfish and so much shame came with it like, How could I be doing this for me when I should be doing something for my son.... And then it hit me This IS how I can be there for him. He needs a mother who is whole, who is healthy mentally and physically. We can’t take care of others until we take care of ourselves How can we give from an empty cup? WE CAN’T! So this is for anyone, with kids or not, let’s take better care of ourselves so we can be better at taking care of each other See more

We live in a world where rest is not praised, but in reality slowing down is the quickest way to get ahead I use to pride myself on being busy but when I look back on my busy days I was not happy I was distracted I’ll admit that slowing down is hard for me. When Sonny was in the NICU I found myself wanting to stay busy so I could distract myself from pain and fear ... Now that he’s home, I find myself wanting to stay on top of things and I was starting to overwhelm myself But then I just stopped It’s ok to have dishes in the sink, laundry to do, chores to complete, those things will always be there and that’s ok But moments like this where I can just nap with my boy, forget about everything and surrender to the present moment, thats priceless and worth stopping for So if you have a hard time slowing down, this is your reminder, I give you permission to be present and to let go of your own expectations. The dishes can wait

Sonny Rey Murillo After 23 L O N G days, yesterday we finally had the opportunity to bring our little man home Our little warrior has been a fighter since the second he was born He has overcome so much in such a short amount of time he will never truly know how powerful he truly is... Our first moments, hours, days and weeks were something I could have never imagined nor wish on anyone. I am just so incredibly grateful he is still with us Thank you to every single one of you who reached out in my absence, who dropped everything to help us, who prayed and talked to our little boy in spirit giving him the strength he needed to recover fully No words, post or gift could ever compare to the love and gratitude we owe you Over the next few weeks we will be introducing our little man more and more and sharing parts of his story but for now, enjoy some snip bits in my ig stories If you need us we will be catching up on family snuggles and bonding We love and appreciate you all

Summer hair do's + dont's Avoid over washing 1-2 times is best during summer so grab that dry shampoo boo Avoid salt water at all coststhis will wash out your color fast and RUIN your extensions ... Your hair is thirsty AF during the summer make sure you are doing a deep conditioning treatment weekly and adding oil to your ends DO NOT GET sunscreen in your hair and extensionsNot only will it stain but its hard to remove and completely dries out your beautiful locks Summer may be cancelled for most of us But I still see you acting like it ain’t No judgement here, just take care of that hair See more
