Happy Memorial Day Sampson Family & Friends. It was great seeing you at the cemetery today for our services. Many of you have decorated the gravesites with beautiful live flower arraignments. You made the cemetery beautiful today. NY State VA Officials were very impressed with your support of the cemetery.
Big thanks to Seneca Highway Dept. Roy Gates, Trevor Sibley and pictured in truck Stacey Bennett. They are getting us dug out. We got hit pretty hard at Sampson with this storm. By the end of tomorrow we should have our sidewalks cleared as well. Thanks again Seneca County, we couldn't do it without you.
A Place of Honor: Beautiful winter scenery today at Sampson Veterans Cemetery near Seneca Lake in Romulus, NY. Am always amazed how many people who follow my p...age here have a connection to this place of honor. Sampson Naval Training Station was built in 1942 during World War II, more than 411,000 Naval recruits were trained on the grounds here during the three and a half years of operation. Sampson returned to active use during the Korean War with some 300,000 airmen training here. The base closed for good in 1956, but not before 1 million servicemen and women made this their temporary home. Thank you to ALL our veterans and military personnel who represent our great United States of America with honor and dignity. You can learn more here at: www.sampsonveteranscemetery.com See more
