https://www.facebook.com/imperfectionsL//10206665255223661 Meet Milwaukee Mike. This guy is a great dude. After Sandy hit us, he drove from Wisconsin with a trailer full of donations to New York and ended up staying in Long Beach for 2 weeks. He didn't have a plan or a place to stay lined up. He found me and he started clearing out homes and working on them. I gave this stranger my apartment to stay in. Only downside with this guy is he's a Packers fan. Anyway, check out h...is new mission. It's very cool. If you can give him a few bucks I think it's money well spent. This guy is selfless and he did so much work to help Long Beach. He did it just because he wanted to. He's a better man then me... Thanks Mike for everything you did for our home Long Beach.

That's team work! About 10 neighboring fire departments arrived quickly last night to help the LB department. Great job by all. Wishing a quick recovery to the injured fire fighter. I will see what's needed and what can be done to help the owner of the home. Awesome job everyone! -Bryan Murphy... https://www.facebook.com/bryanmurphyrea//10152142763753704

This was a tough day last year. I remember it well. There was so much devastation to our area but we also had so much positive momentum. It was incredible to see people coming together. To see so much good in people. Then I remember being in my office. Volunteers were out working and helping and I was organizing supplies in the office. I was alone for a few minutes and went on the internet. Reports were coming in of kids shot. In the end, twenty innocent children and six bra...ve teachers were killed. This was a low point for me personally. I remember someone walked in the door at that moment and caught me crying. Truthfully, I broke down. They had not heard the reports yet. I could deal with mother-nature to an extent. We were coming together and putting the pieces back together. But I had no answer to a person deciding to do something like this? Good things were happening, it was the holidays and we were rebuilding. With all of the emotions running high, I truly felt like giving up at this point. I was devastated but a call to a friend set me straight and helped give me perspective. In the end we have to realize that evil is around us. There are going to be times when things happen in life and there are no reasons why and no solutions. We have to be aware to this fact but yet continue to live life to the fullest. When something bad happens we have to hit back with ten times the goodness. Last year I took stockings from our stocking drive and printed out the names of each victim. 20 children and 6 teachers. I put them up on my office wall as a memorial. Let’s try and remember those kids, teachers and affected families. See more
