Springfield Gardens will be hosting a number of in class halloween activities! Some of these will include: class dance party, virtual pumpkin decorating, spooky story writing and more! As a school we will be holding a costume contest that we invite all families to participate in. The rules are as follows: - No costumes overly scary - No weapons of any kind - No costumes that demean race, religion, nationality, handicapped condition, or gender... - No obstructive masks - Costumes should be age appropriate In order to be entered into the contest, you must send a photo of your scholar in costume to [email protected] by 12PM on Oct. 30th. There are many ways to learn about Indigenous Peoples' Day and celebrate with your scholar. - Learn about the tribes that live or lived where you live now. Native-land.ca is a web app that helps direct you to more resources about different Indigenous cultures and territories all over the world. - Celebrate by learning more about dream catchers and their role as traditions in Native American history. Have a go at making your own dream catcher using everyday materials (see the Action Update for more details!). - Browse exhibits at the National Museum of the American Indian.
