Our Stonewall tour is this exhibit come to life!
Tours are suspended because of the pandemic. But it does give us an opportunity to clean up the website (http://www.savethevillagetours.com/), pay some attention to the FB page here and prepare for a hopefully robust season to come! We've also updated the Bob Dylan, The Stonewall Inn and Gay Greenwich Village and the East Village, Manhattan tours. But even the un-updated tours are hard to beat. ... Had any tours been out this week, everything is in bloom and Mother Nature is at her best. We all missed this scene in the park. Too bad we all can't go out and enjoy it. Soon enough! You can go online and book a tour for later in the summer though. Bob Dylan fans The Bob Dylan Fan Club Bob Dylan - ISIS Magazine Bob Dylan, We'd like to thank you..... We’re bringing #PRIDE Photographs of Stonewall and Beyond by Fred W. McDarrah to city streets, thanks to LinkNYC. #PridePower is going on now. https://bit.ly/2WexOuq
The Stonewall tours this month offer a special treat - 13 giant McPride photos in the NYU Skirball windows. And all kinds of flags and flowers and decoration in Christopher Park.
Opens June 6! Pair it with a tour!
The Museum of the City of New York is happy to accept contributions so you, too, can be a champion of the big McPride exhibit! https://mailchi.mp/mcny/pride1-435941?e=98a355e79b
Proud and honored to see this morning the installation of a display of Fred W. McDarrah's iconic LGBT photos being put up in the windows of NYU Skirball alongsi...de Washington Square Park. The pics are up thru at least the end of June - Gay Pride Month. Check it out. And don't forget the book party tonight at The Stonewall Inn, 6 to 8 pm, for "Pride," (OR Books) the new volume that these photos are drawn from. See more

50 years ago today, April 29, 1969, Greenwich Village was designated as the city's second Historic District (first was Brooklyn Heights). Fred W. McDarrah loved..., appreciated, and was worried about the future of the Village. He was not alone, as evidenced by his famous May 16, 1960 "Save The Village - Wake Up Mr. Mayor" photo. Let us all tip our hat today to some folks who have worked to, well, save the Village: everyone past and present at the Village Preservation - Greenwich Village Society For Historic Preservation and their heirs, ranging from Jane Jacobs to Ruth Wittenberg to Shirley Hayes and the "stoller moms" who beat down Robert Moses to save Washington Square Park. Carry on. See more
