OUR PURPOSE: The purpose of Sharing a Meal is to provide a hot nutritious meal to any individual or family in our community who is in need of one. Our volunteers treat every guest with kindness, dignity and respect in a warm welcoming atmosphere. Sometimes a warm smile and a kind word, mean as much as a hot meal. Sharing a Meal serves over 5,000 meals annually to those in need in our community.

A Little History about Sharing A Meal OUR HISTORY In 1994, members of the Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ recognized the need for local outreach to members of the community who were faced with hunger. As a result, the congregation, with the support of the Interfaith Nutrition Network, created the soup kitchen to provide a hot nutritious meal every Tuesday night to anyone in need. Originally named Having Friends INN, in 2017 we became an independent so...up kitchen named Sharing a Meal. Since 1994, parishioners from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, St John’s Lutheran Church, Bayport Methodist Church, Sayville Methodist Church and individual members of the community have joined the volunteer staff of Sharing a Meal. The Soup Kitchen Will Be Distributing Meals Again This Week Mon-Thurs To Go Meals at 5:30pm

Notice: Sharing a Meal will be open next week Monday, March 16 thru Thursday, March 19. However, due to Coronavirus concerns the dining room, including the restrooms, will be closed to guests. Instead to go meals will be distributed outside the doors of the soup kitchen from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. We will be re-evaluating the situation on a weekly basis. Thank you for your patience.

Taking a moment to remember those who gave their lives to save others, those who sacrificed their health and well being to help their fellow man, and those who lost loved ones on this day not too long ago. We Will Never Forget.

Our favorite Annual Lemonade Stand by Kaylee and Joanna Ferrara from Oneonta raised $427.50 last Saturday for Sharing A Meal. Every year these philanthropic ladies come to visit Sayville and spend part of their time with helping our local cause. What an amazing example they set. Thank you Joanna and Kaylee! Nice Work If You Can Get It is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin. The fundraiser will be held at the CM Performing Arts Center ...in Oakdale on Saturday, July 20.
