Sergeants Benevolent Association 30.10.2020

On 11/5/2007, active Sgt. Michael W. Ryan, 41, of the Warrant Section, passed away from 9/11 related ailments contacted during rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero and the Fresh Kills Landfill. On the anniversaries of their untimely deaths, the SBA recognizes all past and present members who lost their lives as a result of the performance of their duties. These gallant officers made the ultimate sacrifice and we owe them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

Sergeants Voted! Police everywhere voted, making a critical difference in NY State Senate & Assembly races in which anti-cop Democrats are losing their seats. In Staten Island, Southern Brooklyn, Long Island, and northern suburbs - our members & families voted. There's still paper ballots being counted, but however these races finish - we hope & expect the results stick - a powerful message has been sent that our neighbors understand the danger of anti-cop policies that put public safety & law enforcement at risk. AND CONGRATULATIONS to Congresswoman-elect Nicole Malliotakis - the candidate we've proudly supported since day one! Police Voted!

Amid the frenzy of Election Day results, please take the time today to remember Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo of the 43 Precinct, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Nov. 4, 2016. While responding to a family hostage situation, he spotted the suspect in a vehicle at the corner of Bronx River Avenue and Noble Avenue. As Sgt. Tuozzolo exited his vehicle, he noticed the suspect was armed and managed to warn another sergeant just before being mortally wounded. The other sergean...t was shot and wounded in the leg, and the gunman was killed by another responding officer. Paul was a beloved 19-year department veteran who served as a delegate for many years. He is survived by his wife Lisa, young sons Austin and Joseph, and a large extended family. Please say a prayer today for Sgt. Tuozzolo, who personified the finest qualities of a police officer, and his wonderful family. He was the truest of heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice while saving the life of a fellow officer.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. Look out for each other. Stay in touch. Vote.

This is deeply tragic. Preparing for lawlessness & rioting in New York and California - hardly a ringing endorsement of the public safety policies coming out of City Hall and Albany (or LA and Sacramento). This puts cops in immediate & serious danger. Be careful out there.
