On Monday, Judge Pauley reappointed the Ombudsperson, and Independent Mold and Data Analysts in SBC and Manhattan Together IAF's Baez V. NYCHA case for a year. At a minimum this means thousands more public housing tenants will get real mold and leak repairs. Further, our lawyers filed a motion to force New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to apply Baez's standards and oversight to all NYCHA property, including that run under RAD, or a potential "Trust." As the story below outlines, we also discovered that NYCHA is closing out mold and leak work tickets before converting them to RAD, not making sure the private developers make the needed repairs, and may not even be telling developers about what is needed. This is a perfect example of why NYCHA needs strong oversight.
