Stony Brook Graduate Student Organization 13.12.2020

The GSO will be hosting its fourth legal clinic of the Fall 2020 semester with Jonathan Sinnreich on Thursday, December 10th, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. The appointment can be held over the phone, via Zoom, or via FaceTime. Our legal clinician has advised students in a number of areas, including landlord/tenant law, traffic law, civil disputes, marriage law, and criminal law. Please note that immigration law is outside of our clinician's expertise. If you wish to schedule an app...ointment, please email [email protected] with the following information: - Your name - Your SBU ID number - Your degree program (Undergraduate or Graduate) - Requested time slot (each time slot is 30 minutes) - Preferred appointment method (phone call, FaceTime, or Zoom) - A brief description of the type of advice you are seeking Requests will be kept confidential and serve to help Mr. Sinnreich prepare. If you are interested in making an appointment, please read the following stipulations. The legal clinics are offered for students to seek advice on a variety of issues including, but certainly not limited to: real estate, civil disputes, traffic disputes, immigration law, and defense. Please note that Mr. Sinnreich is an advisor, not a litigator, and is not available to represent graduate students in legal matters such as closings, immigration proceedings, or in civil/criminal court. However, Mr. Sinnreich does have years of valuable expertise to advise you on next steps and relationships in the Long Island legal community to recommend you further counsel. The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is seeking to hire 1-2 dynamic, detail-oriented graduate students for the position of Office Manager. About the position: The office manager will hold office hours receiving students and performing administrative and accounting work to support the efforts of the GSO. ... Responsibilities include: Processing reimbursement applications, working with the GSO Financial Team to ensure all required documents for reimbursement are audit ready and meet state guidelines. Notifying students to pick up checks, mailing out checks, and keeping track of vouchers and receipts. Managing office supplies and keeping the office organized. Assisting with additional tasks assigned by the GSO Executive Council. You will report directly to the President of the GSO. This position will run through June 1st but can be extended for the next fiscal year. Pay for this position is $16 per hour. Requirements: Your latest resume or CV. (1 or 2 pages with contact information) Previous experience working with campusvine and Google Forms is preferred but not required. Recommendation letters from previous Employers / Faculty Advisor(s) (optional). Candidates for this position must be dynamic, detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills and willing to learn the GSO’s financial bylaws.
