This year has been like none other! In December, we welcomed Celia Tedde into our Stony Brook Hillel family and we had no idea what to expect. How could we possible get to know each other over zoom? How would she be able to connect to students she hasn't met? Why would she want to commute from Queens to Stony Brook on the train? Whether you have had the pleasure of meeting her or not, she's done a lot in these few months! Here's just some of the things Celia has done while a...t Stony Brook... > Teach you to make cold brew on our Instagram story > Create tye dye to fundraise for the campus food pantry > Design a birthday postcard so we could celebrate with you > Study Jewish texts with her during JLF > Welcome Shabbat and celebrate Havdalah with her guitar > Explore Jewish music with her during Winterfest. > Built snowmen together on Staller Steps > Color code string to help up make friendship bracelets > Call you (whether or not you answered) just to say HI Celia has made a HUGE impact on Stony Brook Hillel in the short time she was here, but as they say, all good things must come to an end. We are incredibly grateful for having Celia on our team and she will be missed as she takes on her next adventure. However, once a Seawolf, always a Seawolf! Join us as we wish Celia (luck)! Celia, you will always have a home at Stony Brook!

We will not remain silent as #antisemitic harassment and assaults are on the rise. Make your voice heard #ActAgainstAntisemitism during the Day of Action TODAY, Thursday 5/27 at 4 PM ET and demand that Congress takes action to protect all of us from hate: Actagainstantisemitism.org (Link to register in our bio)
Stony Brook Hillel is committed to supporting Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, as well as the peace and dignity of all people. We are disturbed by the dramatic increase in antisemitic attacks across the globe, including in the tri-state area. Many students have expressed feelings of anxiety, fear, and pain in response to these attacks on both their Jewish and Zionist identities. Through dialogue, education, and engagement, it is our hope that students will continue ...on their unique journeys with Israel to find answers, truths, and relationships that feel authentic to each individual. The Talmud teaches: to be Jewish is to question. Stony Brook Hillel aims to continue to make space for students to ask questions, and engage and explore together in community.
Tomorrow, May 25th at 8pm, we will be holding space for a conversation about the conflict in the Middle East, Israel, and the rising Anti-Semitism both abroad and at home. No prior knowledge about the conflict is needed to join. We only ask you come with an open mind and welcome you to bring any questions you’ve been holding onto, feelings about the current moment, and ideas for future change. Please register at tinyurl.com/signuphillel to receive the zoom link.

The events of the last few days have been deeply troubling for many of us. In times of crisis and pain, it is important to remember that you are not alone. Hillel is here if you need a space to process, talk or just be in community. Send us a DM or schedule a time to chat with Jenn, Bar, or Celia using our personal links in our bio. ... We are here for you, we see you and we hear you.
