At EHS-CCP partner Life’s Little Treasures, the children are doing a toddler outdoor activity- Bug Hunt -Searching for bugs with a magnifying glass. They captured ants and put them in their terrarium to inspect with a magnifying glass. They talked about and named: legs, head, body, color, antenna etc. The infants looked at squishy plastic bugs put into a ziplock bag and sealed for safety. They used a magnifying glass, too. The teacher is talking the Infant through the parts o...f a bug. This activity demonstrates. A. Demonstrates fine-motor strength and coordination B. Counts and connect numbers with their quantities C. Positive approaches to learning- Persists (in trying to catch) D. Knowledge of the Earth’s environment See more

Happy 56th Birthday Head Start! On this day, May 18th, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson said of his great experiment in education: Birth in poverty will not mean a life in ignorance. 56 years later, Head Start and President Johnson's legacy live on. SCAP is proud and honored to continue operating high-quality Early Learning Programs in Schenectady to help low-income children get the early education they need to thrive in the future. #HeadStartWorks

This Sunday, Jan 31st at 5pm, The Outer Loop Theater Experience and Brown School in Schenectady will provide a LIVE virtual collaboration and devised theatrical response to the moment of crisis, we as a global community, currently find ourselves in. These are strange and uncertain times... ones simultaneously abundant and lacking in connection and hope. Can we, through theater, inspire empathy and reconnect to our shared humanity? We invite all to attend this awesome, virtua...l experience. The students at Brown School have chosen SCAP as the local organization to support and will generously donate all proceeds from the event. There is no set fee for tickets and the event is "donate what you can". For more information on reserving your seat visit: https://empathyprojectbrownschool.eventbrite.com We hope you can join us for this great event!
