The sap ran really hard first thing this morning in the warmest woods, but it has slowed some throughout the day! Our cold woods are still just getting thawed out!

The snow is still at least knee deep in this woods!

Our Newfield facility will be open again this weekend as part of the Fall Maple Tour! We will be giving tours and explaining the process of turning maple sap into maple syrup! Our team is busy in the woods making plans for this coming season and it is absolutely beautiful this time of year for a walk on the woods trails! Fresh and ready! A little early morning prep for Market!

Getting to show the next generation some of the new possibilities for our operation and how technology is going to interface with day to day maple production! The girls are always impressed by how much information is available on the computer between the vacuum monitoring system and now this Intelligent Reverse Osmosis Machine. This particular unit will go at the collection point in one of our new woods allowing us to be more efficient and spend less time trucking sap!

The spouts are incredibly clean for the season to be over, but we finished up early this year. We are already half way through pulling taps and all the end of season cleanup. The flavor of the syrup this year was great! Definitely one of the most difficult seasons we have ever experienced, but with God’s help, a good team and a lot of hard work, we made it through. Sure was nice to spend Sunday with my family! We don’t often get to be home all day Palm and/or Easter Sunday’s! Today is a beautiful day in the woods as we continue pulling spouts/taps. Be safe! It’s a wet raw day here in CNY (38 for a high so far and rainy rainy rainy).We have shut down over half of the woods, but we are still getting nice sap off the high elevation woods. It’s not a record breaker but we are grateful for every drum we fill! Enough to keeP all the trucks hauling. The taste testers all said it’s still good keep it boiling!
