Our last science spotlight is tomorrow (4/27) with Dr. Brenner at 1pm in 700 Fairchild!
Our last Science Spotlight is this Friday (4/27) at 1pm in 700 Fairchild! Dr. Brenner will talk about how you can use corals to study coastal conditions and past climate change.
Dr. Lessio’s talk was so fascinating! She explained what it means to be a computational quantum chemist, and demonstrated why computational chemistry is so important for the development of clean, renewable energy. It was a great talk and a full house!
Science spotlight tonight (4/10) with Dr. Lessio at 7pm in 700 Fairchild!
Next week Dr. Lessio will be on Science Spotlight teaching us about how quantum chemistry can be used to build a sustainable future. Don't miss it on 4/10 at 7pm in 700 Fairchild.
We had a great showing for Dr. Ellen's talk about the early solar system. She gave us a crash course in planetary science and a better understanding of how we can study the mineralogy of meteorites to understand solar system formation.
Tonight! Meteorites: A glimpse into the Early Solar System with Dr. Ellen at 7pm in 700 Fairchild
Next up on Science Spotlight: Meteorites with Dr. Ellen (4/4 at 7pm in 700 Fairchild) Ever wonder how we learn about what was in the Solar System before planets or what the planets could be made of? Come learn about some of the techniques and results that yield valuable insights into early Solar System chemistry and dynamic processes.
We had a great crowd at our Science Spotlight last Monday with Dr. Tammo Reichgelt. Dr. Reichgelt taught us how we can use plants to track climate change in the past and learn about the future of our planet. He also offered an interesting example from his own research of how scientific results can get misreported in the media
Dr. Cristofari gave a great talk last week! Metapopulations of Frontiers of Science Students: asking wonderful questions!
Science Spotlight TONIGHT at 7pm in 1000 Fairchild!
Dr. Reichgelt is next up on Science Spotlight! His talk, Plants track climate change, we will explore Earth’s climate from the perspective of plants. We will focus on the stories about the ancient Earth locked in plant fossils, as well as what changes plants currently have to endure and how they adapt to the future. Don't miss it on Monday (3/26) at 7pm in 1000 Fairchild (note location difference)!
This afternoon--> Metapopulations of pathogens: explaining Hospital Outbreaks stealing ideas from Ecology and methods from computational mathematics, to address current Biology problems.
