Distancing ourselves vs engaging, social interaction dilemma. Living in a small circle, with uniform views or traditional approach makes social interaction straight forward. We all live by the rules, and as such, all seems fine. Brake or trying to bend the rules and suffer the wrath of society occasionally by death. However, living in a modern society with a wide variety of backgrounds and the freedom to express them posses different challenges. Either engage and ha...ve a discourse or decouple. Engaging can be tedious. In a society where different views are very uteliterian i.e., we only adopt them because they are useful and beneficial to us. They do not even need to be rational or logical. Interaction is somewhat limited utility. Then comes the decoupling model. DO not deal with it and pursue the laissez-faire approach. you do your thing and I do my thing. Wonderful solution. Until we get to a crisis. WIth no discourse or history of it, we as a society suffer if not die. SO while decoupling sounds like an option, over time that only leads to confrontation and social unrest. Extreme but inevitable. So how do we interact, come to a consensus, and pursue the common good. The expanding pie or the fixed pie perspective comes to bear. Not all. solutions are the less for you the more for me. Socially and economically there is a middle ground where the "Pie" can grow at different rates and your gain is not my loss. That requires leadership, less focus on scare tactics, and a strong feel for the common destiny. I cannot live in peace if we have disproportional hunger, lack of education, poor healthcare let alone none for segments of the population ....etc. Part of the series "conflicting views of the world: establishing common ground for the common good" @sissastrain. @sdfmedianyc #nycdancer #travelor #dancer #citygirl #contemporarydance #choreographer #dancer #danceperformancenyc #pose #runway #vogue #allstylesdance #artist #nycdancer #nycchoreographer #nycphotography #nycmodel #portraits #model #canon #profoto #nyc #iso1200 #lightshapers #profotousa #fstoppers #500px #portraits_mf #profotoglobal #DevelopPortDev See more

Aspirational societies vs the culture of want. The disappointment at ourselves. Aspirational societies are societies that have hope for a better future and the feeling that there are resources both human and raw material, to meet the demands of these asperations. In short, it is a society of wealth. Want cultures are the result of limited resources. Primarily human capital including intellectual capability and drive. In modern societies, resources can be found and bought, hu...man capital shapes the fortunes of the economy. Societies throughout history aspire to shift from wanting to aspirational either through territorial conquest or rapid intellectual development. The reverse happens when empires decline. Prosperous societies devolve into want due to chaos, lack of social harmony, and harnessing the human capital from coordination and building into infighting. The main difference is hope and coordination. That is the difference between civil society vs societies in chaos. The main difference is the loss of hope and aspiration. When a person loses hope and asperation they shift from building to ensuring survival. Aspirational societies are never perfect. Their hopes are always loftier than reality, but that drives them to improve and achieve a portion of their dreams. We have a choice: we are a great society, we have our shortcomings but above all, we have our hope, drive, and ingenuity. let's demand our leaders to meet our aspirations, ourselves to meet our own hopes and higher standards. We make our fortunes and we shape our own societies. What do we want? I believe we are able and capable of further greatness and higher achievement for all. The attraction of vast expanses of wilderness There is a magical effect of vast swaths of seemingly untouched nature. There is a soothing effect of nature before man's effect. The sound of the water, the feel of the wind, and the smell of the grass. It is everything we do not have in our daily lives. We admire the opposite, but we still chose to live in cities where there are other people. We like amazing coffee, preferably prepared by a good barista. We like fresh bread bake...d just right. But above all, we cherish the convenience, intense feeling of an Uban place, museums, amazing internet connection, and all the conveniences. If we assume that the density is a reflection of choice, more of us chose dense urban areas but love visiting and admiring nature. There were periods in history that we believed in the forest and desert spirits, so we respected the trees, the land, and the sand. Comes to modern society and we got self-centered and destroyed everything around us. We are just recovering from that and are very slowly regaining appreciation and respect for our land and mother earth. What is progress? When we lived in harmony with our environment or when we had an absolute disregard for it? A new year - What is temporary vs permanent changes - the choices ahead. Turning points lead us to rethink. We rethink our life, choices, and where we want to go and what should our objectives be. 2020 was a turning point. how much of a turning point? We have reconsidered the normal in work from home, medical care and delivery, social equality, and the justice system. ... How much of that is temporary and how much is a permanent shift? How will we define justice after we realized the cost of inequality? Access to healthcare and coverage? where and how do we work and how much face time vs productive time should we have? That was the year of testing and redefining our choices and objectives. While we think of selves as unique and our choices as singular, the common trends globally of how much fatigue we have of isolation, how much we want to work away from the office, what should our equality mean, and how our societies should look like are amazingly similar. We have also realized we do like to talk and interact with other people, we love creative arts and really miss them. Are they really "nice" or essential? But one of the outcomes we realized, we know we do not like hatred, we do not accept injustice in any form, we have collectively restored our faith and belief in the human spirit and the goodness of our fellow humans. When life is busy, these are abstract or philosophical questions. But when we are in a crisis - our choices are clear. This was a hard and difficult year - but the message is overwhelmingly uplifting - we want a better life for all not only for me and we can not do that just for ourselves we all need to help each other to get there. Moment of introspection: "Naked swimmer moment" and the failure of both the stick and the carrot incentives. The Naked swimmer moment represents finding the weakness in the system for the first time after stress. The pandemic exposed that in our engineering our society, we have significant shortcomings. With no universal health care system, the poor and minorities were exposed to higher mortality rates, no health care coverage, no sick leave, impacting the overall populati...on in turn. Our healthcare delivery is expensive and not able to deliver emergency care to the population at large at a reasonable cost. It was built for the elite. The pandemic focused our attention on social injustice, racially, law enforcement that is designed for only one segment of the population, and not all. The two extreme social systems socialism and capitalism have major failings: socialism is designed to enforce order by the "stick" while capitalism is designed by offering the "carrot". In both cases, neither delivered on the social contract. In our case, the carrot was not enough to deliver a population-wide safety net impacting the overall society and the way it functions. For a society that is mobile and dynamic, we need the ability to be resilient i.e. able to return from a shock without disfunction. 2020 was a year of acceleration and need to review how well our society is functioning and what are the objectives? are they still valid and are they the right objectives for the society we want? Is what we do matter? do we matter? From a human perspective - we all matter. Human life is valuable. But does our work or life make a difference i.e. do we matter to humanity? It depends if we are trying to make a difference. To our family and close friends, we matter a lot. We are loved, valued, and supported. That inner circle might agree of course we matter - to them. The bigger circle is our work and society - we are functional, we fulfil a productive function. We are va...lued economically - but do we matter? To society, if we live our life with purpose, we matter. How much? to our immediate family that makes all the difference in the world. Yes, we absolutely matter. To our circle, we might matter if we work hard to make a difference. But for humanity, very few people really matter. That is one perspective. The hero perspective one person does good or fights evil. In reality, life is an interconnected web. Every person we help and make a difference in their life, they go on and make other peoples lives better and richer. We love Superman and Superwoman, but these are fiction. In real life there are ripples. Acts of kindness ripple through society. Helping others ripples though a circle and that circle can get bigger and bigger. Let's live our lives with purpose and make it matter. When our life is lived with purpose the ripples can be amazing. Parents, artist, creatives, or just responsible people that live with purpose. We should strive to matter Part of a series "Making our message and life matter - building a better society" @_anna_zaia_ @sdfmedianyc #life #photographer #sun #summer #lifestyle #amazing #city #style #world #instadaily #photography #artofvisual #DevelopPortDev. #portraitmood #portraitpage #fstoppers #500px #portraits_mf #profotoglobal #photoshoot. #iso1200 #photoshoot #portraiture #instaart #arte #modernart #portrait #artistsoninstagram #fineartphotography #contemporaryartist.

How do we perceive ourselves "stomachs or brains" Self-image and how we perceive our role impacts what we believe are excesses and what is problematic and as a result what needs to be fixed People as stomachs is a view of being consumers. The more consumers, the more the stress o resources, and that would represent disequilibrium. We are taxing the world, society, and mother earth.... The side effect of the stomach view is that we need fewer people, less immigration, less construction fewer housing even if that leads to homeless problems. After all, they are excess. Static systems are optimal and change is disorderly. People as bargains is a perspective of increasing use but more efficient and hence no overcrowding, no taxing resources ...etc because we can cleverly modify our behavior to keep the technological and resource equilibrium. But the view of us as brains leads to looking at ourselves as resources. We are valuable, we need to invest in education and intellectual development to harness that amazing potential. A single person can innovate and change the world for the better, the person as a hero and agent of a better society. From that perspective, immigration increases growth rates lower inequality, and increase every person's opetunity. which results in a less divided society - after all we all have an amazing future. The human spirit and ability have transformed the use of labor, increased living standers, and improved equality.
