SeaLegacy Ocean School 31.12.2020

In 2019, Blue Sphere Foundation, founded by Shawn Heinrichs, joined forces with SeaLegacy. Together, these two organizations are now forging the next exciting chapter in marine conservation as one unified front: SeaLegacy. For over two decades, Shawn Heinrichs and the original co-founders of SeaLegacy (Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen) have used their inspiring ocean imagery to convert apathy into action and to drive powerful conservation wins across the globe. We are re...ally excited to see what big strides in ocean conservation this team can accomplish together in the years ahead. As a part of this transition, we are now converting the BSF social pages to become the home for SeaLegacy’s new #OceanSchool initiative. Please keep watching this page as it will soon be the home of something really exciting- a place for the next generation and a global audience to find the information they need to learn about the ocean and the resources to help them tackle conservation challenges together. In the meantime, make sure to follow SeaLegacy to keep up with Shawn and the BSF team as they work to keep #TurningTheTide alongside a community of passionate conservation storytellers.

What comes after the Pandemic? This video message from the virus to humankind is a chilling reminder that our future is intimately connected with all other life on Earth. We know where the pandemic came from, and we know how to stop the next one. It's time to make our voices heard. Enough is enough. Now that our own vulnerability has been laid bare, it's time to demand #ExtinctionEndsHere -- for all life on Earth. TAKE ACTION: ExtinctionEndsHere.org Video from SeaLegacy and Global Wildlife Conservation.

COMMUNITY - We just wrapped up 2 weeks of filming in Raja Ampat, and aside from being exhausted from 5am starts and late night data management, my heart is over...flowing with all the beauty and inspiration that makes Raja Ampat, West Papua so special. So much of my work showcases the beauty and vulnerably of some of natures most iconic and most threatened species, but truth be told, I spend a significant amount of time working with stakeholders of all walks from top government officials and powerful industry leaders, to frontline communities in some of the world’s most remote locations. Conservation work is really not about all that much about ’saving nature’, but rather about transforming cultural, for when we profoundly change people’s relationship with the environment, we create immense possibilities for our ecosystems to thrive. It is in the healing of the people that we will find the healing of nature. And when you have the honor and joy of engaging with the bright-eyed, smiling faces of the children in these remote communities, you experience such deep and authentic excitement and joy that your heart spirit soars with their jubilant laughter. You feel their hope and I am certain amongst them are the future conservation leaders of our time! I am so grateful to have the opportunities to share in such transformative experiences. #bethechange #lightonecandle #humblewarrior #onlyone See more

"Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and slaughters a visible Nature, without realizing that this Nature he slaughters is this invisible God he worships." Hubert Reeves #bethechange #lightonecandle #humblewarrior #onlyone
