Last evening the Sector Command Center r...eceived a call that several kayakers went into the water when their personal watercraft capsized near the George Washington Bridge and they could not be located by the person reporting the incident. Station New York and our Port Partners from @NYPD and @FDNY launched in response and luckily the individuals were found to be ok and made it safely to shore. What made this outcome possible, though, was the fact that they were prepared and wearing the proper gear. We cannot stress how critically important it is to take the proper precautions when enjoying the water - no matter what the conditions are; but with it getting colder each day as we roll into the winter season, it is imperative that the correct gear be worn, as doing so could be the difference between a good outcome and tragedy.
