Strand Test Time! Our client Jack is wants creative color with dramatic silver blonde results. To test his hair prior to booking the actual service, we did a strand test using lightener + 10, 20 & 30 volume developers. The higher the number = the stronger the developer Strand tests are essential when attempting a big color change. We perform them prior to coloring virgin or damaged hair, or when looking to dramatically lighten. ... Strand tests to ensure that the hair will respond properly to the processes planned, to determine its suitability for a given process, and to verify specifics such as processing times, and possible results. We also test the hair’s porosity + elasticity to ensure the hair can handle the processes planned and will not incur damage or breakage. Last Sunday, I saw that a local group of parents and children were planning a peaceful vigil by the 104th Precinct to protest police brutality and remember black lives lost. Our salon sits in the shadow of the precinct, so we offered our sidewalk and the safe space inside our front gate for the vigil. We took a knee for 9 minutes, read victims names, some carried signs. I feel it is my duty to use my position, as well as the physical space I occupy in the community as a sma...ll business, to ally and to help amplify voices in the fight for #BLM and against systemic abuse and brutality.
