Today's volunteer day is rain or shine! We'd love to have you join us as we tuck our garden away for winter
We've been busy and a little quiet on social media, but we are alive and well and our Seedfolks are just as wonderful as ever:
Hard to believe our 2017 Summer Youth Program has already come to an end! Here are some highlights from our program this year, from gardening to cooking, from building to teaching. We are proud of our crew of youth interns for all of their hard work with us this summer.
Day 1 in the garden with our summer youth program and we've already got them eating all kinds of weeds and flowers! On our introductory garden tour we challenged them to try as many new things as they could-- and they were all extremely brave! The list included nasturtiums, borage, wood sorrel , mint, lambsquarters, mustard, purslane, pineappleweed, lemon balm, and more...with wood sorrel being the overwhelming favorite! After the tour our youth employees got the chance to begin the process of planning and designing a garden themselves, in an activity led by Seedfolk veteran and design enthusiast Jamison! We are excited to see this process continue over the next six weeks :)
This week we are excited to welcome 12 new youth employees to our team as we kick off our our 5th annual Seedfolk Summer Youth Employment Program. Yesterday was their first day working with us at the Westside Farmers Market and they did great!! Looking forward to learning and growing together over the next 6 weeks! #seedfolkcityfarm #urbanfarming #youthemployment #westsidefarmersmarket

We love seeing our Seedfolks share their knowledge with the next generation, and in this case, their own families. Jr had a great time learning how to plant tomatoes from his uncle Jarvis this evening. :) #seedfolkcityfarm #urbanfarming #plantingtomatoes #intergenerationallearning #teachwhatyoulove
