***PRESS RELEASE*** President Robertson and Chief Myers are saddened to announce the passing of two Seneca Hose members: John (Jack) Blake and Tracy Escott. Jack Blake joined Seneca Hose in 1982. He was a life member and served as a Board of Director. Additionally Jack spent many years as a Commissioner of West Seneca Fire District #5. Jack passed away on November 2nd. Visitation will be Friday, November 6th from 3pm to 7pm at Castiglia Funeral Home. 873 Abbott Road, Buffalo..., NY 14220. Tracy Escott joined Seneca Hose in 2001. Tracy served in the footsteps of her father, Ed Walker, who was a life member and Past Chief. Tracy was an Active-Life Member, and held the positions of Ladies Auxiliary President, EMS Lieutenant, and was a current Fire Commissioner for West Seneca Fire District #5. Tracy passed away suddenly on November 3rd. Visitation and service information will be shared as they become available. Please keep the Blake and Escott families, as well as the Seneca Hose family, in your thoughts at this time.

Seneca Hose Chief 9, Engine 1, and Ladder 6 responded mutual aid to Reserve for the residential structure fire on Allendale Rd yesterday afternoon. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and heat on the first floor and with a fire in the basement. Crews found heavy fire in the basement and made a quick knock on the fire limiting exposure and spread. Seneca Hose Engine 1 is a 2011 Spartan ERV Rescue Engine. E1 has a 1500 gallon per minute Hale Pump, a 750 gallon water tank, and a 30 gallon foam tank. Engine 1 responds first due to any vehicle fires in District #5 and is second due to all motor vehicle accidents. E1 also is our out of district mutual aid engine. Engine 1 carries a full compliment of Hurst hydraulic extrication tools. In addition to the 30 gallon foam tank, Engine 1 carries 22, 5 gallon buckets of AR-AFFF foam

Seneca Hose Rescue 5 was requested by Union 9 to a Burgandy Circle address for the vehicle through the structure with an occupant trapped inside. Rescue 5 arrived on scene and assisted crews from Union and Winchester with extricating the victim from the vehicle and stabilizing the structure.

Please join us in welcoming the newest member to the Seneca Hose Family! Firefighter/EMT Nick Sikorski and his Fiancé Misha welcomed Mackenzie Rose Sikorski into the world on August 18th. Mackenzie was born a little early and weighed in at 3 pounds 1 ounce, and measuring 15.3 inches. Mom and baby are doing great. Mackenzie will be spending a little more time in the NICU but mom and dad can’t wait to have her home.

Congratulations to FF Erik Kwandrans and Probationary FF/EMT Kate McDonald on successful completing NYS Interior Firefighting Operations (IFO). IFO is the basics of firefighting operations and is a prerequisite to many other courses that the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control offers. This course is required for all Seneca Hose firefighters.

At 20:00 hrs on Wednesday the 26th of August, Seneca Hose firefighters were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle on fire on the I-90 Westbound over Mineral Springs Road. Simultaneously, Winchester was dispatched to Mineral Springs under the Route 90 for a victim who fell from the overpass. Seneca Hose 9 arrived on the route 90 to find a tractor trailer well involved in fire with the tractor hanging over the overpass to Mineral Springs. Seneca Hose R...escue 5, Engine 1, Engine 2, and Rescue 7-1 responded. Crews operated hand lines and overhauled the trailer while awaiting the arrival of Erie County Hazmat to evaluate the contents of the trailer for possible radioactive cargo. The contents were military hardware and did not pose a threat to the community. One victim was transported to ECMC by AMR with non life threatening injuries. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours before clearing the scene. Thank you to the following organizations for assisting on scene: Winchester Fire Company Union Fire Company, East Seneca Volunteer Fire Company Doyle Fire District Erie County Hazmat West Seneca Police Department New York State Police NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Rusiniak's Service Inc.
