Huge thanks to Ray, Daryl, Don, George and Scott for getting the entire Sharon Pathfinders trail system groomed over the past 48 hours! It should be a great weekend of riding!

Well said Tim!!!

Sharon Pathfinders Snowmobile Club 02.01.2021

Looks like there will be some great riding with this new snow. So....some reminders for everyone...... 1. Remember to stay BETWEEN the orange trail marker posts!! Stay on the trail! 2. We are still getting reports of garbage being left behind. TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU, that includes cigarette butts! 3. Please, don't rip up freshly groomed trails so others can't enjoy them. 4. You are given the priviledge of riding on another persons property because of their generosity, so, please show some respect out there.

SOME IMPORTANT UPDATES: Unfortunately, the snow that we received is not enough to open our trail system. Hopefully we'll get more snow soon, but for the time being, trails remain closed. Please stay off of them. We've gotten some upsetting messages from landowners in the past week and a half. Our trail system was open for a day and a half so far this season. In that time, riders on our trail system were riding outside of the marked trails, throwing their beer bottles and oth...er garbage onto landowners property, etc. Seriously people?? Ride between the stakes and take your garbage with you! Needless to say, we have some pissed off landowners, and well, we are pissed too. We could lose trails because of things like this. Our volunteers spend on average 150 hours each season to maintaining trails, signing, building bridges, grooming, trying to smooth things over with landowners when problems arise, trying to re-route trails when we do lose them, etc. So every time people disrespect our landowners, it is a slap in the face to each of them, and to each one of us who volunteers our time for YOU. PLEASE, stay between the stakes, take your garbage with you and show our landowners the respect they deserve it we will no longer have a trail system to ride. We know that 99% of you are respectful riders, and this post isn't directed at you. It's directed at the 1% who are the disrespectful riders that will ruin it for all of us. Ridiculous that we have to remind people to be respectful of other people's property. If you see someone putting the future of our trail system at risk, please say something or let us know. If you see garbage on the trail, maybe you could stop and pick it up. No you shouldn't have to, but we'd really appreciate your help. We're all in this to enjoy the sport and the great outdoors.

With snow in the forecast, we just want to remind everyone that ALL TRAILS ARE CLOSED until hunting season ends at dusk next Tuesday, December 22nd. PLEASE respect our landowners and don't be the cause of us losing trails. We will update our trail status after hunting season ends.

What an incredible honor to have the New York State Snowmobile Association recognize Glenn Hayton for his life commitment to safety in the Snowmobile community. A new Of the Year Award in his memory has been announced, The Glenn Hayton Safety Volunteer Of The Year Award. Here is the link to the nomination form. https://www.nysnowmobiler.com//up/2021/01/Safety-OTY-1.pdf

With hunting season officially ending this evening, we have some IMPORTANT UPDATES... 1) Grooming will begin this evening in the Seward, Sharon Hill and Hyndsville areas, and will continue tomorrow morning in the Worcester area. If you decide to hit the trails, please use caution and watch for the groomers. Remember that the groomer has the right of way. Give them room, have patience, and remember that they are volunteering their time to make nice, smooth trails for you to r...ide. 2) The forecast for Thursday is not looking good . With a forecast of temps around 50 and heavy rain possible, we will likely have heavy snow melt. PLEASE do not ride the trails on Christmas Eve if these temps and rain really happen. It will destroy the base that we are trying to build. The rain and snow melt will also likely create some nasty water holes. 3) Trail 7F from Sharon Hill to Sharon Springs has a reroute this year. Riders coming from the east (Sharon Hill) that would normally turn through the green gates on Sakon Rd (a seasonal rd) can no longer go this way. DO NOT go around the green gates. Instead, continue west on Sakon Rd for about a 1/2 mile and follow the new trail signs. The new trail meets up with the original trail near Parson's Road and continues to Sharon Springs. Trail conditions will be assessed after the warm temps and rain, updates to trail status will be posted here. Please ride safe, stay to the right, stay on the trails, have fun, pray that the forecast is wrong , and have a Merry Christmas.

It is with very heavy hearts we let everyone know that Glenn Hayton has left this world and is now in God's hands. He passed peacefully yesterday after a long but hard fought battle. Glenn was an avid snowmobiler, our County Director, Our NYSSA Club Representative, and a mentor to all in the snowmobile community. Truly loved by by family, friends, acquaintances and sledders throughout New York, his presence will be missed by all who knew him. Please say a little prayer for Glenn today.
