Dec 16, a very cold day on the river

I took these pictures of the mist/fog rolling along the St Lawrence River at 9:00am this morning. You are looking at Old Mans Island and the city of Brockville in the background. It was 5 degree F and minus 10 degrees if you factor in the wind chill. While the River has not begun to freeze over- I think its safe to say Winter is on the way. We continue to see a few ships go by. I read that the seaway is officially closing next Thursday December 24th.

Great pictures! I like to look at the Marine Traffic site to see where the big ships are. I noticed they were all standing still and now I see why!

Shelato Cedar Spring Cottages are closed for the season. There is a certain amount of sadness when our contractor shows up this time of year and drains the water pipes and dumps antifreeze in the sewer pod. Its the final maintenance done each year. Despite the virus epidemic that shook the nation and to some extent the North Country we managed to keep most of our loyal customers this season. Thank you all for joining us at the River in 2020. We look forward to serving all ...of you again next year.
