Building Bridges This week, our students built bridges as part of their STEAM curriculum. STEAM stands for: Science... Technology Arts Engineering The children first created blueprints for their bridges, then constructed them and tested out their balance and supports. They then had a competition, running a toy car over their bridge and seeing which one succeeds in going all the way over it STEAM is essential in teaching children with ASD different life skills. This exercise not only teaches the children the concept of thinking and creating in 3D, tapping into their technical and tactile aspects, but also promotes social interaction through recognizing their peers, acknowledging their presence in the shared space, and presenting in front of the class.
