My (Dr. Joe Morra) daughter, Dr. Christine Joy, wrote an Instagram blog regarding eye allergies. She is a fantastic writer who covers this condition in great detail. Our office is now registered with the premier telemedicine site, "Eyecarelive". Once you have downloaded "Eyecarelive", select the clinic as "Dr. Morra," and you now have access to myself, and staff, in a HIPAA secured private site. You can schedule live video-audio exams, send us pictures from your phone of your eye, or simply send us a secure message. Many patient concerns (red eyes, allergies, contact lens questions, etc.), can be addressed without you entering our office. If it is a medical telehealth visit, your insurance can be billed. To register, download in the app store, on your iPhone or Android, "Eyecarelive." Within the app, you can schedule a consultation or send us a message.

I hope everyone is well! Sadly, I have learned that there could be a shortage of contact lenses in the near future. In fact, some of our patients who recently ordered lenses, have only received a partial supply, for two reasons. First, the contact lens manufacturers have reduced production due to social distancing and the necessary laying off employees; this decreases the quantity of contact lenses available. Second, there is evidence that there is hoarding of lenses, mostl...y by foreign companies; this increases the demand. Reduced supply and increased demand are a formula for future price gauging by those with stocks of contact lenses. Bottom line, if you order your contact lenses soon, you will have price protection, and contact lenses. My office is extending the expiration date of contact lens exams, which is normally for one year. If you are a patient, consider calling 315-458-8010 to order lenses. I will review your record, and if appropriate, approve the order. If you are not a patient, but would like to purchase lenses from my office, I can set up a telemedicine video and audio evaluation, and based on that could order you lenses. Call me directly at my cell phone number: 315-450-8686, and we can arrange the telemedicine evaluation. (Please note, if you purchase contact lenses, don’t write on the boxes or damage them, and if your prescription changes during the year, I will exchange them, at no cost or restocking fee, for you.) My office is also open for emergency visits (any eye pain, infection, floaters, abrasions, etc.) and for urgent visits (lost eye glasses, damaged eyeglasses, etc.) Please stay safe, and consider contacting me or my office, for any vision needs. Warmest Regards, Dr. Joe Morra See more

It is our desire, and privilege, to serve the community with urgent and essential eye care needs during the Corona virus pandemic. Please read the passage below for details: Due to the Corona virus, non-essential businesses in N.Y. State are mandated to close. Optometrists are considered essential providers, and it is optional for such offices to remain open. Our office will be available for urgent medical visits and essential optical needs. Urgent medical visits in...clude sudden onset of flashes or floaters in an eye, an eye injury, foreign body in the eyesimply anything of an eye medical nature. Essential visits are when you have broken your glasses and have no backup pair, or other visually significant occurrences that require an optometrist to intervene. We will not be examining persons for routine visits, which include simply wanting new eyeglasses, or such. I would like to let you know my entire staff has been given the option to work, or to be furloughed, (with a guarantee of full employment when this pandemic is under containment). Each employee has decided, without hesitation, to continue working. I am so very thankful to Andrea, Lois, Alaura and Taylor, for their commitment to serving our office, and our community. From the hygienic perspective, we have initiated a number of rules for your safety, and ours, some of which I have printed below. 1. All staff, including myself, will not be working if we possess any signs of any cold like illness; we will simply stay home for fourteen days, and if a fever develops, get tested for the corona virus. For our patient’s; if you are ill with any upper respiratory symptoms of sore throat, cough, sneezing, or sniffling, we cannot have you in our protected office environment. I advise you to call Upstate Ophthalmology Clinic for eye medical care. 2. Only the patient (unless a parent accompanies a minor, or an adult requires a guardian) is allowed to enter the building. Drivers who bring the patient may wait in their car in our parking lot. We don’t even allow the mail person or UPS driver to enter the building! 3. After each patient encounter, every surface in the office is properly disinfected with either isopropyl alcohol, or a Clorox-water mix. 4. The office air is sprayed minimally every hour with an appropriate air disinfectant containing chlorine. 5. Each staff member and doctor are meticulously washing their hands throughout the day. In conclusion, myself, and my staff, are here to serve the community with essential eye care needs, and urgent eye medical care, during this pandemic. God speed for it to pass quickly! Taylor Cefalo joined our staff as an optometric technician and office worker in July, 2019. Taylor has learned the ropes very quickly, and truly enjoys working with all our patients. She has a bubbly personality, and adds much fun and laughter to our work days. Some of her interests include cheerleading; Taylor is a coach for N.Y. Icons, where she teaches boys/girls up to age thirteen the fundamentals of this growing sport. Taylor has also worked as a nanny for five years, and is certified in CPR. In her free time, Taylor enjoys retail therapy, kickboxing, and is a voracious reader. Taylor has been the perfect addition to our staff because of her wonderful personality and excellent work ethic.

My beautiful optometrist daughter, Christine, who works at a five doctor practice in Manhattan, NY, has a blog (with almost 2000 followers) that she posts videos to. She asked me to join her in a talk regarding "Digital eye strain" which is caused by the ubiquitous use of cell phones, computers, tablets...etc. I have posted the link to our talk below. You may also note on that link her wedding video from one year ago; the two videos came to me in the same email on the link she sent. Feel free to watch our family and friends celebrate her wedding to Kevin, a blessing to our family. https://photos.app.goo.gl/N6PN43bEGwVQs7Th6

Our staff member who speaks to patients on the phone with her happy voice smile, and welcomes them in the office with a friendly greeting, had her baby shower today. She received two car seats, two cribs, two of many items because she is carrying twins! One boy, one girl, how awesome!

Dr. Christine Joy (Dr. Joseph Morra’s daughter), practices optometry in a five doctor NYC office. She has a special talent of making video’s related to eye care topics. She has recently been published on IntroWellness.com, an online newsletter, on the topic of Three reasons to choose daily disposable contact lenses. MADE IN AMERICA! We recently equipped a second examination room at Skyline Optical, which includes a new chair, stand, and vision tester. When selecting these items, Dr. Morra put a priority on purchasing these items from American companies, and we are delighted to state that all three are made here in the USA. The chair and stand are from Reliance, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Additionally, Dr. Morra owns several pieces of equipment from Welch-Allyn, which is located in Skaneateles, NY
