Sloatsburg Historical Society 25.11.2020

More from the letter: Our members continue to provide support to Harmony Hall in Sloatsburg in its endeavors to be a showcase of the Sloat family and Sloatsburg local history and to the Genealogical Society of Rockland County in its program to copy local records for print and online access.

Sloatsburg Historical Society 13.11.2020

More from the letter: Member Bill Schlichter spoke on the iron mines at the Long Pond Ironworks in nearby New Jersey at our Colonial Dinner in October. In honor of the 85th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Sloatsburg, Village Historian Harrison Bush organized a program honoring early members of the clergy, with Mayor Wright contributing his vast knowledge on our local history. Our Society placed several pieces of our historical collection in the Library display case in honor of the occasion.

Sloatsburg Historical Society 08.11.2020

More from the letter: Over the summer most of our collection of the Spring House Indian artifacts was turned over to the Trailside Museum at Bear Mountain, which has an artifact storage facility on Iona Island. This facility can better catalog and preserve this special collection than can our Library and Historical Society.
