Steve Maggi was interviewed about the announcement made by the Trump Administration to get more information on immigrants. Where does that information go? How far is too far? Take a listen to find out! http://www.financialsurvivalnetwork.com//dna-testing-and-/
President Trump plans to up the ante, adding retina scans, palm scans, voice prints and even DNA to immigration screening processes to detect criminals. How far is too far in terms of invading people's privacy? What about data security risks? I discussed with Lars Larsson on his show out of Portland, Oregon last night. SMA is a specialized U.S. immigration and consular law boutique firm based in New York, founded by Steve Maggi, Esq. a Georgetown University Law Center graduate and former associate at the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. After several years working in international corporate and finance practice, Mr. Maggi decided to start SMA Law Firm, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a specialized focus on U.S. immigration and consular law. Over the course of eight ...years in the Buenos Aires office, SMA prepared petitions processed at U.S. consulates in South America and around the world, including investor visas, tourist and business visas, while simultaneously handling all employment-based visas and green cards for its U.S.-based clients. The consular practice included the sub-specialty of waivers, which help lift legal bars to entry to the U.S. SMA has represented clients at approximately 50 U.S. embassies. In 2011, Mr. Maggi set up the New York office of SMA, which he currently manages, to maximize SMA’s ability to help individuals and companies worldwide with their version of the American dream. SMA works with franchises and service-oriented businesses in order to create investment opportunities to foreign nationals obtain investor visas and EB-5 green cards, and assisting foreign companies who want to expand their businesses into the U.S. and send management and specialized personnel to undertake those expansions. President Trump signed a Presidential Proclamation extending the freeze on green cards and suspending several non-immigrant visas into the United States, including the J-1 visa, H-1B, H-2B, and L visas. The Proclamation takes effect on June 24, 2020, at 12:01 AM ET and remain in effect through December 31, 2020. It may be continued or modified as necessary. The Proclamation suspends the issuance of visas for those seeking entry pursuant to a(n): H-1B visa (specialty occupatio...ns in fields requiring highly specialized knowledge) H-2B visa (non-Agricultural Temporary worker performing other services or labor of a temporary or seasonal nature); J visa (cultural exchange/internships/training) L visa (intracompany transferee) and any foreign national accompanying or following to join them ** This does not directly impact F, E, R, H-3 and O visas, but the embassies and consulates are still closed for an undetermined period. Essentially anyone who already holds this visa can continue to enter the US, assuming they are not coming from the countries which have a ban on them, and without quarantining for 14 days in a third country before entering the U.S. For anyone with questions please feel free to reach out to us https://smalawyers.com/contact-sma-law/
