Smoked Salmon SMØRREBRØD... our most popular! Topped with dill creme, lemon curd, pickled cucumber and lots of dill! . Quick history lesson... smørrebrød (which literally means butter + bread) popularized in the 18th & 19th century when workers (especially agricultural workers) ate lunch in the fields. These workers would use stale rye bread as plates with toppings including smoked fish and meats, herring, vegetables, etc. After a while they began to realize the juices from the toppings would soak the bread (making it flavorful!)
